One of the best marinas to stay at on the ICW! 3 free (new) washer and dryers. Clean restrooms. Courtesy mini-van you just sign out (and put some fuel in).
3 blocks from the front street of Beaufort. So - an easy walk to any of the great restaurants there.
Great dock hand service getting in and getting tied up. Great current protection (as in : none).

I had nothing to complain about at Homer Smith Marina. The facilities were about as cared for and clean as a person could desire. We did our laundry, had showers, and watched the team USA soccer match in the comfort of the lounge. They also had a courtesy vehicle available, which could come in handy if you are in need of more heavy lifting or provisions run.

Excellent facilities. Dan the Dockmaster was superb. I am a convert from the downtown Marina. Homer Smith, best in Beaufort.

What an outstanding marina - top notch - I had some questions on the approach and Dan was thorough and patient guiding me through. The help getting into the slip was much appreciated as there aren’t always knowledgeable dockhands around. An easy walk into town where there are lots of shops and restaurants. Free laundry and courtesy van were wonderful but the goose that lays the golden egg was the free ice! Will definitely return

The marina is pristine and so well maintained. Dan, the dockmaster, made it so easy for us to get in and out. We got fueled up on our slip. The town is nearby and walkable. Love this marina!

Update 06/21/2026 - Yes, they are consistently excellent! Thanks to the staff or being understanding on our change of schedule due to weather. The new "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" restaurant next door at the Margaritaville hotel is a nice new option next to the marina.
Update 10/23/2025 - Another great stay at Homer Smith Docks. The staff was great as usual. Easy walk to town. Highly recommended!
May 13, 2025 - The NEW Homer Smith Docks & Marina is a great stop! We stayed here on our first Loop in 2019, and it was good, but in need of some love. Boy! Did they get Love! Completely rebuilt with new docks, a new office, and a boater's lounge. The staff is excellent. We appreciated the courtesy van, and FREE LAUNDRY! Easy in with a well-marked and dredged channel. This will be our regular stop in Beaufort, NC!

Well run marina with competent staff, free laundry and courtesy car. We enjoyed our stay there. Mind the channel coming in, it gets very shallow very quickly once outside.

Exceptional marina you really need to visit at least once on your travels! Matt was amazing at tie up, explained the amenities of the marina, and made us feel welcome. Dan shared his local and sailing knowledge which really was valuable to us. The docks are wide, clean, and everything works. The showers are clean and beautiful. The free laundry is in real washers and dryers. There is a restaurant next door, and groceries in town. And, no kidding, they have a loaner car you can sign up and borrow. This was such a great environment that allowed us visit with neighbors and get caught up on boat stuff. We will definitely be back.

Amazing marina! Staff was very accommodating for a last minute extended stay in a transient slip & very helpful for local info. Having a marina car available was a real plus for cruisers - not to mention free laundry on site. The marina facilities were clean (looks brand new!) and very safe. We will definitely return.

Dan was great, We were hoping to refuel, get water, and hang out at dock in order to affect fresh water repairs. We had to buy full slip, ok. Unfortunately was put in a slip that when water tank refilled we ended aground as tide subsided significantly delaying departure and fouling AC water intake requiring mud digout overboard later.

Dan answered our questions prior to arrival professionally and efficiently. Met us at the dock, helped us tie up, fuel, and hook up to power. Then went the extra mile and walked us through the outstanding facilities. ONLY thin I’d suggest is a trash can at the end of C dock…! Awesome stay, and great fuel prices - way cheaper than City Docks!!

Homer Smith’s is the go-to Carteret County marina for guests and locals, alike. Located on Beaufort’s Towne Creek, we feature 30 slips, accommodating vessels up to 100 feet. More slips are to come, as we continually grow our facilities.
Our state-of-the-art marina caters to recreational boaters, sailors, fishing trollers, area residents and seasonal visitors. Our boat slip rental leasing options allow for brief visitors and those looking for a long-term stay. We’re proud to be serving everyone looking to be in Beaufort, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, or just anywhere on Crystal Coast.
The docks that make up Homer Smith are constructued of a BMT ML-32 floating dock system built by Bellingham Marine, the largest dock manufacturer in the U.S. Our decking is made of Brazilian hardwood, also known as IPE. The main walkways are 10 foot wide, making them more stable than others in our area. Our docks are secured by 12-inch concrete piles and the finger piers will be 32-foot long with bumper piles at each end. The harbor lights are made with marina electrical equipment and supply all power needs for up to 100-foot motor yachts.
