San Francisco Bay Marinas

At the mouth of the San Francisco Bay, stands the infamous Golden Gate Bridge, an iconic structure connecting the city of San Francisco to the rolling hills of Marin Country. Within the bay, you have access by boat to several large cities - San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose, and the chance to marvel upon many of those magical cityscapes by sea. Explore one of the five islands in the bay - whether it be Alcatraz, the famous former federal penitentiary, or Angel Island, a state parkland. Many city dwellers will take their boats to Sausalito for an afternoon of lunch and shopping, or perhaps, explore some of the thousand miles of inland waterways. Conditions in the bay area are notorious, so be prepared for a consistent diurnal wind pattern and the notorious “Marina Layer” of fog that can set upon the bay like pea soup.
