About Long Point State Park on Lake Chautauqua
The park's boat launch is the most modern on Lake Chautauqua, which, at 1,308 feet above sea level, is one of the highest navigable bodies of water in North America. The lake has a plentiful supply of bass, perch, pike and other types of fish, but fishermen come to Chautauqua to fish for muskellunge. Muskellunge, or muskie, are native to the lake, noted for their size--often more than 30 inches long (in fact they must be at least 40" to keep) -- and their "fight." In winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowmobile or fish. Boat Launch, marina and pump out station. Marina Slips are available thru the Park. Fuel, boat rentals and a small restaurant are available thru a concessionaire on site. Showers are available at the beach bathhouse. There are picnic tables and grills and available for use. There is a guarded beach normally available Mid-June to Labor Day weekend - check operating hours/days. Pets are welcome in the park, but must be on a leash. Proof of rabies vaccination via Veterinarian certificate must be available on request - collar tag will not be accepted as proof. Pets are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings, or on the beach.
