Safe Harbor Skull Creek

Great 2 night stay. Skye the dock master was so accommodating and welcoming. Would definitely stay again. Calm slips, right off the ICW. We walked to two restaurants, the Boathouse and Dockside which were 1.3 miles away and then took an Uber back. First time the GM drove us there! Great water machine for 25 cents you can fill up with filtered drinking water. Showers and bathrooms clean and tidy. Did laundry. Machines new and worked well.

We enjoyed our stay at Skull Creek. Everyone is very nice. Only issue is it is not close to any shopping/provisioning. There is no ship store or restaurant on property. We did Uber to shop and went out one night to eat. Great find on the ICW- and we love our Safe Harbors!

Eric & Skye are fantastic. Great location, walkable to restaurants and cool historical sites (fort Mitchel). Well maintained docks & facilities. Quiet, highly recommend.

We had a wonderful nights stay here. Docking was in a tricky spot due to tide and wind and the type of boat we have. We had three dock hands, Sky(Dockmaster), CJ, and Eric (2nd day there). All were a pleasure to work with as we settled our boat into its spot. Their positive patient attitudes as they worked with us and Mother Nature to get us docked worked out very well. We were secured to the dock and got some much needed rest at the quiet tidy marina. The showers had wonderful hot water with nice pressure. The marina also has recycling :). Leaving the dock was a completely different experience with no wind and at slack tide. :) Thank u for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be by again.

Nice quiet a little far to the restaurants

Mark the GM and Michal dockhand/ Dockmaster is very accommodating and friendly, this safe harbor Skull creek has to be one of my favorite ones yet! Very clean, organized and beautiful scenery. Highly recommend any boater of any size in the ICW to stop by. -Christopher M/Y Tatou

Nice place with excellent staff. Just one aggressive acting dog to pass otw to the showers, but he would not jump off his boat. Showers are nice with great pressure!

Great crew had the best stay

45' sail catamaran; 25' beam; 5' draft; 70' air clearance; one husband, one wife, one young child, and two small dogs. We were on our way to Chesapeake Bay from Fort Lauderdale, when Tropical Storm Debby (Aug 2024) gave us chase. Rather than risk getting caught out somewhere around Cape Hatteras, we decided to tuck in at Hilton Head at the last minute and wait out the storm. Because of the uncertainty of the ever-changing forecasts, we did not know how long we would be there, and how bad the storm would be. Also, Hurricane Ernesto was forming in the Caribbean, and we had no idea, whether we would have to sit that out, too, or if it were going to spin off toward Bermuda. TS Debby arrived a day later and then squatted immediately offshore for THREE days. Everyone at Skull Creek was helpful and friendly, and they accommodated our ever-changing schedule professionally and courteously. The marina is missing rubber bumpers on some of its floating docks—easily dealt with, if one carries spare fenders—but the cleats are oversize and well spaced. It is an easy bicycle ride to grocery stores and a Walmart. To get to other attractions on the island, you probably will want to hire a taxi or rent a car. The current is strong at the marina for a few hours between tides, and the approach from the ocean against an outgoing tide can be tedious. If it is possible to time your approach to ride an incoming tide up the channel and arrive at the marina during slack, then definitely do it.

Dates: July 15 - 18, 2024 LOA: 48' Beam: 15' Draft: 3'4" Skull Creek has nice floating docks and is easy to get to, being right on the ICW. Good depth on approach and in the slips. The staff and dock hands were excellent. This one is a perfect destination for golfers. They have laundry and showers on site. Walmart delivers here for groceries. Uber is available if you want to venture out to restaurants.
