Cons: Tough location to drive to with the tunnel closed; bathrooms/showers feel like a FEMA camp. Pros: great staff, great location, easy access to everything especially fuel (except early morning when the BHC boats are fueling up and there’s no staff to help pleasure boats.)
Marina Response:
Hi Scott, thank you for visiting the shipyard and leaving a review. We appreciate you recognizing our staff! The tunnel is closed by the city for repair and will reopen at the end of this week which will make it much easier to get to and from the shipyard. The restrooms are cleaned regularly, so we apologize if they were not to your satisfaction. Glad to hear you enjoyed the location and took advantage of the fuel dock. We hope you stay with us again to give us another opportunity to serve you.

Great boating community with many live-aboards. Facilities are being improved gradually.

No protection from passing wakes. Marina is located in a very busy part of the harbor. Lots of rolling til late in the evening and early in the morning. Staff was helpful. Laundry, restrooms, and shower are clean. Other boat owners on the dock friendly. Nice park nearby. Expensive marina for poor conditions.
Marina Response:
Hi Clarke, thank you for the review. We are glad to hear you were well served by the staff and our facilities! Boston Harbor does tend to be busy. We hope you enjoyed the nearby parks and the rest of our charming neighborhood. And we hope you visit us again soon. Thank you - the team at BHSM

Absolutely outstanding service. I received delivery of my new to me yacht at this location. Captain who delivered had no problems getting questions answered by their staff. I had made a mistake on the date of the reservation, which they corrected for me swiftly without charging me a cancelation/rebook fee. The slip was in a perfect location right at the entrance of the marina, in a protected location with finger piers on both sides (and near fuel docks!). Excellent views of Boston. I couldn't have asked for more.

During our trip to Maine from the Chesapeake Bay we left our boat for 2 weeks in Boston while we went home to take care of some business. Jason is the dockmaster at Boston Harbor Shipyard and is truly outstanding. From the moment we arrived and needed to refuel he was on the radio giving us guidance and instructions. He met the boat at our slip and helped get her tied up. He recommended a mechanic to take care of an issue we were having and also knew of a diver to clean our prop. He followed and made sure everything was taken care of. He answered the innumerable questions we had about the marina and couldn't have been more professional. He's also tireless - all day long we saw him flying up and down the pier in his golf cart taking care of issues. The marina is a little weathered, showers are clean but could use an update, but Jason alone is a reason to stay here. We've been to 20 marinas so far this summer and seen plenty of good dockmasters but Jason stands head and shoulders above them all.

Good location with easy access to the water. We parked our boat here for a few days while waiting for a service technician to maintenance our engine and stayed with family in town. The area around the marina is mostly residential, so having access to a car or using public transportation is required. It's also worth noting that most of Boston is not dog friendly.

I decided to take my boat to the Boston Harbor Shipyard to sit out the potential hit from Tropical Storm Henri. This marina is in East Boston and is protected by a long breakwater built from barges attached to large steel pylons driven into the the bottom of the inner harbor. In addition, the Nantucket Light Ship is moored to the outside of the barges, providing additional cover from a west wind. Wind from the other three directions is attenuated by land surrounding the marina. Most transient boats are tied up to a floating dock on the inside of this breakwater. I felt like my boat was very secure in this location. The marina itself is very big and has several hundred permanent tenants. It is surrounded by multistory apartment buildings on two sides and Logan Airport on the third. It’s a long walk from the breakwater to the very serviceable heads and showers (about 3/8 mile). On the weekend the shipyard is home to a thriving social scene with an art gallery, a restaurant and a cider distillery. There are a few additional restaurants within walking distance. One major attraction that kept me at the Shipyard an extra day was that it was a short walk to a “T” station that would take you into Boston proper at a cheap price. That made the Aquarium, Faneuil Hall and the other historic sites of this city easily accessible. One advantage of this marina is that it is significantly less expensive than the better known marinas across the harbor. I’ll stay there again the next time I come to Boston - even if there isn’t a storm brewing.

Jason was amazing helpful especially during a stressful time with storm. Thanks to he and fuel dock crew.

Stayed here while Henri was threatening. Jason was awesome - in touch as necessary before during and after the storm. Great spot to explore Boston from water taxi. Fun “eastie” neighborhood with good pubs and restaurants.

Great location - a little gritty, but that was part of the great atmosphere. Very friendly people. Men's bathroom was a bit gruesome.
