Rocky mooring, with harbour traffic. Lovely town, with great shops and friendly people. The launch boat (on ch72) is badly run, they told us they stopped at 8.30pm and went home at 8. Leaving us dockside unable to get to our boat for and hour before we found a kind person who ran us out, luckily, so use your own dingy if its not to choppy.

The mooring area is in a busy ferry terminal. There is a lot of boat traffic and it’s not very protected.

Excellent. Great people and food at The Black Dog.

Great location for the mooring just outside the breakwater. You do get a little wake from the ferries but not too bad. Nice to have the free laundry at the marina, ice and showers too. We will be back

Beautiful docks with a first class restaurant on site. Matt and his team are consummate professionals, and Matt is very plugged into the local marine economy, so if you need anything, he knows who to call and he will introduce you.

First time visiting MV, and Vineyard Haven moorings couldn’t have worked out better. Radioed them on the way in and was given my mooring number and clear directions/ instructions. Launch was convenient as well. Had a mechanical issue late Friday on Labor Day weekend. Matt arranged to have a diesel mechanic (Josh) come on Saturday morning. Josh diagnosed the problem promptly and got us running with a temporary fix until he could get the part needed. He showed up promptly Monday morning, Labor Day! and finished the job. All the staff and management were professional, knowledgeable, and courteous, couldn’t ask for more.

WE stayed on a mooring ball. The mooring balls in the outer field are not sequential. We circled around searching for our assigned ball and it was between 11 and 123. This was a recurring problem for other boaters, who also were frustrated by the difficulty of locating their mooring balls. The launch service was also chaotic for this same reason. The launch driver would have no idea where the numbered balls were located and it required boaters to stand on deck waving to the launch driver. This was our major issue and we added 15 minutes to the time we called for a pickup. The showers were just OK. Not very clean but functional. The beach was great.

Vineyard Haven moorings are secure and convenient to the shops and restaurants of Vineyard Haven. The dinghy dock is situated next to the ferry terminal and the stop for the free island buses. NB: Vineyard Haven is not good shelter in a blow from the North.

Everything was extremely smooth! When I called on channel 71 I received an immediate and friendly response and was told exactly where to go. And then, of course the scenery is gorgeous!

Large unprotected harbor, VERY rough water. We paid for three nights and left after two. Town moorings inside the breakwater are a better option.

Easy mooring pickup. We asked to arrive early and they were able to let us do that. Just past the breakwater so very entertaining to watch ferries. The launch service is ok.

Great town. The moorings are outside the breakwater and are exposed to the fetch from the northwest to northeast. It can be rolling as well from ferry and commercial traffic as well as powerboats as they are outside the speed restriction zone. These are good quality moorings and pennants so you’ll be safe. There are excellent restaurants on shore and a good dinghy dock and launch.

Mooring 17 is badly chafed and needs repair. Noise and wakes kept our boat up all night. The lights from Vineyard Wind are incredibly bright. It’s like New Bedford Harbor! The launch drivers were nice and quick, and the showers were good.

What a beautiful marina and mooring field. The dockhands were so helpful and the marina is beautiful. Loved the restaurant and facilities. It’s our new favorite place to stay on the Vineyard. Thank you!

Service was excellent but it was quite rolly due to frequent boat traffic.

Matt, was waiting for us as we came in to the harbor to show us our mooring. Very pleasant and professional.

The mooring was fine, easy to grab and attach to the cleat. The launch is operated by a private company and were easy to hail. Helpful to note that the launch brings you to another section of the bay, by the Black Dog Tavern. It is a short walk to town. The town dinghy dock is big, and there is a dumpster for garbage. Ice must be purchased through Stop and Shop which is not far. Took us a bit to learn the lay of the land, and had a good experience.
