Very accommodating Harbor. Harbor master was out there when I arrived and helped me find my mooring. Took the launch in. Town was nice. Will return.

Plymouth is a great destination with lots to do. Everyone I came in contact with in the Harbormaster’s office went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

plymouth is a great destination and the plymouth town wharf and moorings are always super nice and accommodating. launch service is wonderful and the downtown is historical. love coming here.

Beautiful Harbor, easy to locate mooring and launch service included was a huge plus and need. Dinghy dock is overcrowded.

Excellent historical stop. Stayed on Harbormaster mooring ball for three nights. The harbormaster led us to the transient ball. The ball comes with complementary water taxi. There are shoreside restrooms and showers. The Stop and Grocery is a long 30 minute uphill walk. But here’s what we learned. The GATRA local mass transit has a secret. Call 844.358.4422. Have your pickup and delivery address’s ready. They will pick you up at the Harbormaster office, or wherever you are in town. It will take you as far as the Plymouth Potouxet Museum, Stop and Shop, wherever in town. (Harbor Freight next to the grocery store). And, its only $2.00 per person per trip. Back to the harbor. Great equipment and people. Boats under around 45 ft.

Very protected moorings, you get a mooring assignment before you get there, and all town moorings are in great condition. Plymouth didn’t disappoint, as usual.

We had a great time during our stay. Mooring was easy to find. Harbormaster came out to meet us to give us the lay of the land. Prior to our arrival we were concerned about how tight the mooring field might be but even in a 45' catamaran with a 25' beam it was very manageable. We would highly recommend. We would definitely go back.

Great moorings, super nice and responsive dock master's office. Stayed with them 2 times and looking forward to many more in the future. Alex / Serenity

We were tired after a 20 hr passage. A little cross eyed. We didn't ask for help, but the Harbormaster came out and showed us to our mooring. That was wicked nice. Thank you! The new facilities are super nice.

Thank you again for my 4th wonderful stay with you this summer- your harbor patrol crews are the MOST helpful- Cheers!

Harbormaster staff were friendly and hepful. The facility is amazing .... fairly new, super clean

by Ceri L. on Aug 17, 2022
We had a wonderful stay here. The harbormaster stopped by the boat to check on us. They were very friendly. The mooring field is a bit of a ways in, but is very well protected. The facilities are new and very nice. Laundry is free. It would be nice if there was an access card, code to get in instead of contacting the harbormaster. Plymouth was a great town to visit, just avoid Plymouth Rock, very underwhelming. There is a wonderful seafood market right on the dock.

by Ed A. on Aug 15, 2022
Location is awesome right next to the MayFlower. Price for the moorings was a great deal. Very helpful Harbormaster Assistants came in the boat and pointed our mooring for us. The Maritime facility is brand shining new. The showers are 5 star hotel level. The city was very quaint we loved walking around it. Definitively very recommendable

New facilities, washer & dryer, showers. very nice.

Well-sheltered mooring field, reasonable rates, fuel at the harbormaster's location. Multiple dinghy docks. Like-new transient facilities. Just beware of a lot of commercial traffic in the area.

The Plymouth harbormaster team is welcoming, kind and incredibly accommodating. They moved boats about to allow us to use one of their heavier moorings and met us as we came in to guide us to the mooring. Launch service is included in the fee and Paul, who ran the launch in the afternoon was super helpful to my dad who has mobility challenges. Even with an impending thunderstorm, Paul was kind and took the time to make sure everything worked for us. A great stay! We will be back!

The harbormaster met us in the busy harbor and led us to our mooring - no guesswork required.

Great location, friendly dock hands, lots do and see in Plymouth. Free pump out and launch. Staff met us at mooring field and led us to our mooring. Great service, very friendly.

Most helpful service, spotless facilities, secure, well-protected moorings, steps from the commercial and touristic heart of one of the most iconic and historic U.S. towns and ports. We love the Plymouth Town Wharf and Moorings!

by Robert G. on Jul 26, 2022
This was one the best experiences we have ever had with transient moorings. The team is very friendly and helpful, and they made us feel so welcome--shout out to Harbor Master Mike and Launch Captain Tyler. Same for the pump out crew--they happily offered to make an early run out to the boat for us because we had to leave early. Facilities are new and spotless and very convenient. The town is terrific, so much to see and do, and great nightlife...and all so close to the moorings. Only complaint about Plymouth...there's a great franchise opportunity for a Starbucks!

by Larry T. on Jul 25, 2022
The location is amazing, for sure, but the harbormaster staff were all super helpful!! The facilities are better than a lot of yacht clubs for showers and laundry. They were very clean and well air conditioned!! There's only one launch, and the drivers were also helpful and responsive.

Excellent shore facilities at Harbor Master’s office

by Elwin S. - Verified user on Jul 18, 2022
Great facilities. Nicest people on earth!!! They could not be more helpful and many services ie:laundry, etc. were free. It’s a long way in - 5 miles- but definitely worth the trip. Lots to do and see in town. Free electric car service. Great restaurants. All you could ask for, and even a big rock!

Excellent service and facilities from the Plymouth Harbor Master and Crew. Could use a bigger dinghy dock. Location is right near the loud restaurants and tour boats. May be an issue if you are looking for early rest.

Harbor patrol most helpful and the commercial fisherman leaving the harbor early in the morning are very considerate

Had a fantastic stay in Plymouth Harbor over the 4th of July. The new facilities are impeccable and spotlessly clean. The Harbormaster Chad is a great welcoming face for the Town of Plymouth. Highly recommend if you are cruising or sailing the coast of Massachusetts.

All went well. No issues with reservations. Mooring a tad too close to all the harbor lobster boats if you don't like being awoken to noisy engines and rocking very, very early. Otherwise love staying in this harbor.

by Tom D. on Jun 29, 2022
Outstanding location and service. Launch service was very accommodating. Loved it!!

by Kristen H. on Jun 28, 2022
Excellent service from launch crew and harbormaster. Moorings are easy to find and in great condition. Easy access to ice right at the dock. Thank you!

Plymouth has become our favorite destination from the boston area and this trip did not disappoint. Every interaction with the harbor master team is easy and friendly. It’s easy to take the dinghy in to one of 4 different dinghy docks. The city is very walkable. This time we even ventured a bit more and realized what we were missing on top of the hill. Note - search out 7-11 and there are a ton of restaurants and a good handful of shops worth visiting along that street. Glad we keep going here and plan to continue!

Plymouth was one of the few moorings we used on a pre-Memorial Day trip that had all services up and running. Harbor master was extremely attentive and helpful. Facilities were clean, easy to find and located close to town with stores and restaurants. We walked into a contact dispute between the harbormaster and the launch service, but the harbormaster resolved our problems quickly. The showers were locked and harbormaster had to provide access, which seemed clumsy. The marina/horbor itself is pleasant - maybe a bit too much light at night. Early departure of fishing boats causes some rocking and noise. Very long and circuitous entry into the harbor.

by Jim C. - Verified user on Oct 08, 2021
Beautiful night at the mooring. Lines were clean and new. Facilities are brand new, shower was nicer than my condo. Free laundry. Working boats galore, and 5 am is start time for fisherman. Not a big deal, adds to the atmosphere. Pump out, diesel and water on dock.

by Tony M. - Verified user on Sep 17, 2021
Clean mooring lines and facilities. Very accommodating staff and launch service

by james l. - Verified user on Sep 15, 2021
Showers and bathrooms were nice facilities, but Harbormaster restrictions on use made them less welcoming. Dinghy tie-up space was non-existent. We had to tie to other dinghys or tie up at a spot that dries out at low tide.

by Rachael B. on Sep 09, 2021
Ended up spending more time in Plymouth than planned and very happy about it. Harbormaster and crew were very friendly and helpful, facilities were new and clean. Our mooring was a perfect place to ride out remnants of Ida. Plymouth has lots of restaurants with great food. Overall a pleasantly great experience.

by John B. - Verified user on Sep 05, 2021
Moorings are nice, but pricey.

by Arden B. - Verified user on Sep 03, 2021
Great moorings, looked in good shape. Stayed 3 nights and were nice and secure for the remnants of Ida coming over. Nice bathroom, shower and laundry facilities with the only downside having to be let in by harbormaster crew and the lack of hooks or places to put your stuff in the shower area. You are located right in town, walking distance from shops, etc. Launch is really convenient too but didn't run one morning due to the lousy weather from the storm. We will be back again.

by Catherine L. - Verified user on Aug 27, 2021
The friendly dock master boat met us at our mooring ball. Everything was perfect. Town was interesting and had plenty of good restaurants. We will return for longer next time. Thanks!

by Richard H. - Verified user on Aug 26, 2021
Very helpful Harbormaster staff. Easy approach and good water in a well marked channel, the breakwater makes a safe harbor for moorings. Good mooring balls with easy & clean pick up sticks. Shoreside small dock for Commercial Fuel & the Town’s self-pumpout. Very convenient & responsive harbor launch service by Maverick harbor thats included with Town’s mooring price, but tipping $ is a good tradition. Great historic town with vibrant businesses of resturants shops bars.

The instructions on Dockwa were great in terms of finding the mooring field and our assignment, with no need to call for assistance. The facilities, bathroom and showers, were very nice at the new harbor master building. The launch was easy friendly and quick. Two issues: first when we arrive to our mooring ball #7 there was a small power boat tied up. We called the harbor master office. They asked us to tie up to another ball and wait for the small boat to leave. We asked if we could just stay at ball # 8. They said no we would have to move. We stated that we would like to go ashore and not have to wait around. The harbor master said they would out shortly to remove the boat from ball # 7. As the harbor master arrived so did the owner of the small boat. There was conversation but the illegal tie up. But the squatters left the ball and we moved to our assigned # 7 ball. I wonder why we could have not stayed on #8 as no one stayed on that mooring during our overnight stay? We were inconvenienced for about 45 minutes. With no apologies or fines or payment charged to the squatters. Which brings me to my second issue: We stayed one night, Sunday night and left Monday morning. I received an email requesting $135 for staying on the mooring until Wednesday. Monday night we stayed in Onset harbor booking through Dockwa. And Tuesday night in Cutty Hunk. I have receipts for both stays. Wednesday morning we were sailing in Block Island sound. We should not be charged for the two additional nights. Ironically the wanted to charge me for days I was not there, but did not charge the squatter when the caught them? I realize the harbor master has a tough job with the size and number of moorings, but they should police the mooring field. I know they have boats and crew that they can check the mooring ball assignments. Three boats and about six crew members arrived to deal with the squatter. Plus records would show we had reservations for one night. They could verify we had left Monday morning by a boat ride or visual observation from their beautiful new office, which oversees the harbor and mooring field. We will consider staying there again, but next time we’ll radio the harbor master when we leave and record the time and name of the person on the radio. Overall we had a pleasant stay in Plymouth for the nineteenth hours were in town spending close to $300 on meals, attractions and gifts helping the local economy.

Great location. New faculties - terrific. You have to be let into them each time - no fob or code, which isn’t the most convenient way to go about things. I know other reviewers have praised the Harbormaster staff as super helpful and friendly. That wasn’t exactly my experience. At times they seemed annoyed by my questions.

Can’t say enough great things about the harbormaster here. Very attentive and polite. Arranged for a pump out for me when the boat wasn’t running. Easy to work with scheduling, etc. the town itself is a great place to stop. Great cell connection (I was zoom calling while here). Superb town and pleaseant nice environment with great people. Our grandkids learned much about life of fishermen and how hard these people work. Access to boat was difficult once Maverick shuttle broke down. It could have easily been remidiated had the dockmaster allowed us to put our stern towards fuel dock which is a floating dock (But refused twice and no one could understand his logic) The officers from harbor master were very nice and while all transportation was down they brought our daughter and grandkids ashore. We truly thank the men and women from Plymouth harbormaster office for their service. The town dock (dock master) could learn much from the harbor master professionals. Louis
Marina Response:
The fuel dock is the private property of a business. We can't grant permission for something that is not ours, we should have done a better job of explaining that. This was noted when you made the reservation: Plymouth Town Wharf and Moorings, 5 months ago, Our dockage is a commercial pier with fender piles and ladders. There is no easy dock to step off on. Its best to get guests off with the tender or launch. If this doesn't work for you check with Safe Harbor Marina and feel free to cancel this reservation.

Nice marina and facilities, great staff, great location. Moorings are a little unprotected ( not the marinas fault) and they are a bit rocky. Had a nice 3 day stay though overall. We had friends on the dock system and it was fantastic.

by David K. - Verified user on Jul 20, 2021
Snug little harbor if you need a place to tuck in. It’s a ways up the well marked channel and best to have the current with you as it can run over a knot. The town is touristy but found an excellent dinner at Salt.

by Benjamin C. on Jul 14, 2021
Great service by phone in setting things up, good mooring (easy to find, minimal slime, had a pennant buoy) and was close to shore (though full disclosure, we didn't go in as we were late in/early out for our trip). A bit of noise from the shoreline live music, but hey, it was a Saturday night and so it goes. Would certainly stay again.

Nice Harbor master led us to our mooring on the edge of the fishing boat mooring field. Clearly marked channel coming in. Fishing boats fired up engines at 4 am. Town docks are rough and worrisome for inflatable dinghy. Many restaurants in town.

The guys at the Plymouth Harbormaster could not be any nicer! I called in to see if they had an open mooring for the night and explained that I was solo on my 20’ sailboat and this was my first trip into Harbor (ANY harbor). They sent me an escort to bring me to the mooring, showed me to the dinghy docks and made sure I was safe and all questions were answered. I had an amazing experience for my first harbor mission.

Great mooring inside the seawall. The Plymouth Harbormaster and crew were very helpful and a pleasure to communicate with. They were readily available and answered all our questions. Dinghy dock. Easy access to restaurants and historic sites. Highly recommended.

by Keith L. on Sep 10, 2020
One of the best mooring experiences I have enjoyed over the years of sailing (and now power boating). No slips were available for Labor Day weekend and so we needed to find a mooring on the south shore. When Dockwa avowed no availability, the Plymouth Harbormaster helped us to secure a mooring that was just yards away from the launch dock. The mooring pendant was big enough to hold a battleship (and clean of slime), and the nicest surprise was that there was no charge for the launch service. We plan to visit again frequently in the future.

Sailing Catamaran - 44' X 25' X 4' We planned to drop the hook here and an advance call to the Harbor Master gave us good info about the only two places to do it - marked "Plymouth Harbor" and "Cowyard" on Active Captain. For the $67.50/day flat rate, we decided to tie up to Ball #1 for a short dinghy ride into town, but a few boats were anchored in the Plymouth Harbor anchorage. It's very calm and protected in the harbor. RESERVING A BALL: Reservations were easy on Dockwa, and the resulting emails provided good info. Call the Harbor Master when you arrive, and he'll talk you right into your ball. The mooring field is snug, with most of the occupants fishing boats or recreational speed boats. Transient balls have a tall orange flag on a float at the end of the painter, so they're easy to grab from the front of your boat without a boat hook. DINGHY DOCKS: The tide here is big - around 11 feet. If you use the dinghy dock at the Town Wharf (near Woods Seafood), pay attention to the tide. After a short trip into town, I wound up killing an hour or so at the nearby pub waiting for my dinghy to float free of the surrounding mud. There is also a public dinghy dock right next to the Mayflower II. PROVISIONING: Stop & Shop is cheaper than Mayflower Provisioning for food, but the latter has booze, so there's that. Both are a long walk for a short Uber from the wharf area. Everyone was very friendly here, and we enjoyed our stay!

by Dennis M. - Verified user on Aug 24, 2020
The mooring was quite close to town and the dinghy dock Unfortunately we docked our dinghy , went to breakfast Upon our return the tide had gone out leaving our dinghy quite land locked ( in mud) 2 staff from the Dockmaster’s went WAY ABOVE the call and actually lifted our dinghy and motor out of the mud , over the dock and back onto the water !!!! saved us our day for getting to the cape cod Canal CUDOS to the 2 young men for their help !

Launch very friendly and accommodating, office contact efficient friendly and welcoming. Town is tourist full for the situation but vast majority are masked.

by John E. - Verified user on Aug 11, 2020
Great place to visit, lots of restaurants/shops within walking distance of harbor - the emails you get from the HM have some missing/incorrect info. I think they just haven't been upated in a while, so.... First, CALL or radio the harbormaster to get your mooring assignment, Second, the launch is included in your mooring fee (according to the launch driver) Third, Alden Park restaurant is NOT a 10 minute walk. Once they update their emailed info, they get 5 stars. (And it looks like in the near future they will have transient facilities, too)

by Robert H. - Verified user on Aug 10, 2020
Super convenient. Will do this as often as we can.

by Cheryl H. - Verified user on Aug 07, 2020
The location was great - our mooring ball was close to the Harbormaster office and close to the tender dock. However, for $67.50, there were really no facilities. Very helpful emails ahead of our arrival and after our arrival. Easy approach. Good instructions on how to get to our mooring. Great place to walk around and get seafood. Would come back.

by Jen M. on Jul 24, 2020
The Plymouth Harbormaster crew does an amazing job. As a Plymouth resident, in a long time boater, I have such respect for what these people do every day. From support at the state boat ramp, ensuring the safety of everyone out on the water, and being so very accommodating when it comes to mooring reservations, especially in these uncertain times. They deserve ten stars, But this app will only allow me five!

our stay at Plymouth this year could not have been any better. The launch, Maverick, was great. The people on Dockwa from your office were perfect. They even checked in the morning to see if everything was OK. They even asked us if we wanted to move our mooring in closer because of the east wind. Our stay could not have been better. Thanks very much!!
Marina Response:
Thanks for your review it couldn’t have been timed any better. We are pleased to announce that we just received a one million dollar grant to build a new Maritime Facility. It will have showers and laundry for transient boaters. We expect construction to begin November 2018. We have also just received notice that dredging will take place over the next two winters first the channel will be done then the mooring field the following year. We will be working on remapping the mooring field and moving the moorings in. We have been working on these projects for some time and it’s great to have the need confirmed that we’re heading in the right direction.

The reservation confirmation was sent without a mooring number. Called the harbourmaster and got the number and directions to the mooring ball. The town is nice, but we struggled to find a place to eat because we had our dog with us. There was no place to get groceries nearby. Staff were very friendly and there is a tourist information center just across the street from the dock. Very sheltered harbor. Lots of fishermen getting up early so best to imitate them.

Hail on VHF16, they will move you to a working channel (probably 12). Launch service is a private company on VHF9. As of 2019 it was $5 per person for the day, and they were running until 10pm on a tuesday. They said they were dredging the mooring field in Sept 2019 and all boats had to be out. No Showers; sounds like they are building a facility for future years though. Very protected behind the seawall.

Bare bones (no on-shore facilities offered but I think there are some by the Mayflower Museum) but well-placed moorings at 55% the cost of the YC. The launch service is a tad expensive but prompt and helpful.

Great stay, we were on mooring #5. Actually someone had overstayed on #5 so the harbormaster put us on a mooring in front of it. The HM was super attentive. The communication through the Dockwa app prior to our stay was outstanding. Be aware that the lightning launch is separate. From #5 it was $7 per person round trip. I'm pretty sure we could have negotiated a better daily rate if we needed more frequent trips, but we just did 2. Worked out great. I can't speak to the moorings out by the breakwater. I'm sure given the boat traffic you would get tossed around out there but #5 was great. We hung out on deck and listened to the band on-shore. There is plenty to do in Plymouth Harbor, great bars and food. There are no shower facilities at this time but for a one night stay it was fine. At $37 the price is right. I really can't say enough about the communication from the Harbor Masters office. They really make you feel like they want you there. Know what you're getting and not getting and plan accordingly and you will enjoy your stay.

We have stayed in Plymouth Harbor in the past, ant it’s always been 5-Stars. Last night we had the mooring closest to the No Wake Zone. It was a few feet outside of the channel, and only a few feet from the No Wake Zone marker. This season, the No Wake Zone market was switched from a large floating dock with a big sign, to a smaller buoy. Needless to say, boaters don’t pay as much attention to the small buoy as they did the big dock. Mooring that close to the start of the No Wake Zone made for a very rough night for our three-year-old. There a number of real wahoos that flew past us. We got tossed.

Municipal staff was great, location was convenient. Only negatives were the mooring line was very gross with slimy marine growth and wakes from go fast boats that didn’t slow down.

The Plymouth Harbormasters could not have been nicer or more supportive. We are traveling late in the season, so many services are not available, but they provided a pump out service and water. The town mooring (#5) was perfect throughout our four night stay while waiting for better weather and calm seas.
