-Mooring directly off the museum
Dock is extremely convenient to this exceptional Museum of the Herreshoff Brothers spectacular accomplishment and the unique History of the Americas Cup!
-Enjoyed Pricey but delicious Lobster Roll & Chowder at the nearby Lobster Pot restaurant.
-Short walk to cute little town with more restaurants!

It was great. And the museum and staff were fantastic

Mooring was adequate. There is no launch which is fine, but the dinghy dock is quite exposed. Another dinghy came in and left their engine up (grrrrr) and we had a prop rubbing against us in some pretty good chop. All of Bristol Harbor can get quite a nice fetch in a S wind so plan or be prepared accordingly. They confirmed the reservation on Dockwa very quickly!.
Marina Response:
So sorry about the engine, Linda! We ask people to leave their engines down, but we'll try to do a better job of policing it. Thanks for the feedback!

Great Marina with polite and accommodating staff. Excellent location, very close to great restaurants and attractions. Excellent for 4th of July fireworks.

Sunday arrival no one guarding radio or phone circuits. Spontaneously the Harbor Master appeared and led us to mooring. No services. BUT!! Museum is outstanding and very much worth the trip.

Our wedding was perfect. Yhe event coordinator was amazing. Jim, the dockmaster took such great care of us. Halsey Herreshoff is always a perfect host. Thank you Bill Lynn for your vision and dedication to the community providing excellent venue and youth sailing programs, the STEM program. It is a bustling vibrant waterfront, beautiful. Thank you.

Herreshoff Museum and dock was a terrific experience. Along with your dock space you get a free pass to the Museum. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of Dockwa who gave us the wrong VHF channel for Herreshoff which made our arrival less than smooth. Herreshoff monitors VHF 72 NOT 68 as Dockwa stated.

Great location a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Bristol. We will return!

Found out too late that admission to the museum would have been Included. AMERICAN STAR cruise line was there for one day and their diesel venerator was loud and gave off diesel fumes. Otherwise, it was fine.

Beautiful marina with all the beautiful classic boats. You look at all the vessels and it brings you back in time where everything was so much different. I reserved 3 days with the museum but I only enjoyed 2 since weather was bad. Got to witness a beautiful wedding as well. Staying here made me realize how beautiful and historic Bristol actually is. Will be back soon

We love this location! The Herreshoff museum and grounds are impressive - we learn something new every time we visit. The mooring field is convenient to the harbor, a short walk to town, and we think better protected from the prevailing SW than the harbor, itself. Our only suggestion for improvement is to have staff available to make the mooring assignment, or to advise the guest accordingly when confirming the DockWa request.

My wife and had a great stay at the marina. Kirk was great host and the location was prefect
Will come back soon!

A nice view and quiet location. Mooring map was provided which made finding our mooring easy. About a 0.5 mile dinghy ride to the town dinghy dock.

Pros: Beautiful harbor, nice town, nice people, museum was okay.
Cons: Cost was out of line at a dollar a foot for an unprotected mooring w/o launch service. Next time, we will stay at one of the moorings in town.

Great Mooring with plenty of swing room and new tackle. 150 yds from dinghy dock. Far enough from busy waterfront restaurants to be quiet but close enough to walk or take dinghy to town dock. If you're looking for facilities this is not the place. it is not a marina or yacht club. It's a museum full of sailing history.

Responsive both pre-arrival & on the day, museum worth the visit, shower / facilities OK, mooring pendant very worn / frayed. Have been twice in two years.

Wonderful people The Museum is a must, easy stroll into a beautiful unspoilt town. Dock staff could not have been more helpful, They even allowed a fuel truck to deliver fuel to the boat, Fantastic .

Due to Covid, the showers and heads are not open Sept 2021. The museum is a must for anyone interested in boat design or the America's Cup.

Enjoyed our stay and visit to the museum. Easy to make contact and find our mooring.

We won't go back to Herreshoff Marine Museum marina. The docks are in bad condition. The dock hand does not have a VHF radio so he calls/texts you to schedule arrival. But when we arrived he wasn't there so we had to circle in the mooring field until he came. The slip is narrow with a large stone wall on one side. If there is a SW breeze it's menacing to bring your boat into that slip. We're a 43' sailboat and found it difficult to safely dock, especially since the dock hand didn't know how to secure a boat with a locking cleat hitch. The dock hand agreed to help us depart the next morning, but was a no show (we called twice and texted once). The wind was between 15-20k and without the help of local fishermen it would have been dangerous to leave that slip with just 2 people aboard.

We were only there for a short day trip (3 hours). First time I've docked there, with a stiff SW breeze, so I was very grateful for Jacob's help - he called us ahead of time, started talking us into the slip as soon as we came around the point, and handled all the lines even though we were less than efficient at getting them to him. Bristol is of course beautiful - old houses, nice shops, I've been there many times by land, highly recommended.

We were happy to return to HMM!
Positives: Easy process to book, great location, and Jacob called to make sure we were happy and clear with our close-in mooring. We were.
Negatives: No tender. No obvious place to dispose of trash or recycling. During the pandemic, no bathrooms or showers available. (Normally inside HMM during hours of its operation.)

The waterfront at the museum dock is very friendly and no boat too small for great services. Pick a great view and enjoy a very exceptional water front with historic interest and friendly local people. A jewel on the Narragansett. Staff response and consideration a plus for safe and comfortable stay.
Link to map location, well in advance. Very informative and enjoyable letter from Herreshoff Marine Museum director included.

Well, just OK. The dock is not in a no wake zone (either are the moorings), the wifi doesn't reach the dock and the bathrooms are in the museum, across the busy street, and closed after the museum closes at 4 or 5 or whenever they feel like it. The dock itself is good, cleats are good and power is good. Next time I'm in Bristol I will look for an alternative location.

Mooring and docks very exposed to S-W wind and seas. Pick a safe mooring that has no chafe or rot. We looked at 4 moorings before finding a secure system. Caveats, we expected high winds that were even more extreme making dinghy rides hair raising. The Museum made the visit worthwhile. Lots of beautiful boats and interpretations. Download the tour app.

We could not reach anyone by phone or VHF. We had booked a slip but upon arrival there were no slips available. A passing gentleman on a tender was able to reach the dockmaster ashore for us at which point they put us on a mooring. This mooring was fouled. They ended up putting us on a different mooring that was too small for our tonnage. Terrible.

We liked it enough to go back a second trip. The cautions are: weddings can blare music to 11:00 PM (I enjoyed it while hanging out), very rolly at times and facilities aren't 24 hours. Josh is a great dockhand.

Accommodated request for our group of 4 boats to be close by in mooring field. Dockmaster leaves at 2 on Sundays so no ice available after that. Showers are only available during museum hours. Trash was overflowing at dumpsters. Water is available on the docks. Plenty of dinghy space. The mooring field is NOT in a no wake zone and boats go blasting through creating big wakes. If you’re not planning to visit the museum go further up to town within the no wake zone and be closer to shops and restaurants.

The area is very pretty; however there are no facilities available from 1700hrs to 0900hrs. No trash container; no bathroom, no showers ... nothing after 0900-1700. $100 mooring fee for the above GO FIGURE ? Ronald W Feher Raison Detre

The marina was wonderful and the museum is a must see. It was very windy (20+ knots) and the staff were amazingly helpful with dock lines etc. I enjoy the short walk into town as well. It is a little rocky at night but the floating dock is better than a mooring because of how it is sheltered immediately next to a fixed pier, at least in a typical southwesterly.

Mooring area exposed to long fetch with resulting continuous wave action. Very uncomfortable resulting in early departure. Dock hand was a volunteer vwho was very nice
by John A. - Verified user on Jul 17, 2017
Just about everything was terrific. Just two small notes: (1) The docking process (previously reserved space) was a bit confusing - hard to understand just where to put the boat, and what sequence would be used between us and "Christine", also in the process of docking. Also, although the dock crew was satisfied that the assigned spot would accommodate our draft, we wound up with the rudder aground at low tide (departure time 1100), apparently because the bottom shoals up at the inner end of our berth. (2) A staff member locked up the dockside heads while a crew member was inside - led to a rather frightening experience.
Additional note: I really didn't want to create a Marinas.com account, but was unable to submit this review without doing so.

Enjoyed our stay. The primary inconvenience was that the bathroom and shower facilities were closed on the afternoon of 7/4. They reopened on 7/5. Also, we didn't know how to access the wifi...no info on the webpage.
