As a 12 year seasonal customer I find the Shipyard crew and management helpful, pleasant and professional .

The Shipyard Marina is unique. It’s small and well contained. There’s an active sailing club on site as well as a group giving jet ski tours of the NY waterfront. The place was bustling all day. Pier 13, on which the marina is located, is home to an ongoing food truck festival as well as a busy and popular bar the occupies more than half the pier. The view of midtown Manhattan across the River is enough to occupy your interest for a long time. The lights at night are amazing.
The next pier over (Pier 14) is home to a ferry terminal with routes to both Midtown and Downtown Manhattan.
The main piers at the marina are modern floating concrete docks. Our boat was too big for their slips so we were tied up (with outstanding help from an eager dockhand) on a wooden extension of the concrete dock. It was parallel to Pier 13 and below the back of the bar buildings. The buildings kept the noise from the bar to a very low level. After the bar closed, all was very quiet.
As is inevitable on the Hudson across from NYC, the water is busy and our boat moved around quite a bit. This too settled down after dark.
There is a wide selection of restaurants within easy walking distance of the marina if you’re not into food trucks. There is a decent market and a Walgreens drug store just 2 blocks away.
The best thing about this stay was the attitude of the staff. Everybody we met was eager to help and just as eager to engage in long conversations. They were all wonderful!
This will be our “go to” marina when passing through NYC.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the shipyard Marina. The staff was very helpful. The view is gorgeous. And the area is very convienint. Grocery and pharmacy close by a dog park, great restaurants. Everything you could ask for. This will be our stop when in the area again and again.

Had basics and no more. Incredible roll at the dock. Felt unsafe getting on and off the boat. Roll subsided 10-11 pm. We left 5:30 am the following day. Had trouble calling and booking. When I called the calls went to voicemail. Voice mail was full and could not take a message. Would not stay again.

At first glance this marina does not look impressive but as the old saying goes, do not judge a book by its cover. This will be our marina of choice when traveling the Hudson from now on. Dock hands were amazing, friendly, helpful AND respectful. There’s a great little dog park just in front of the marina which was very helpful. The BEST part of this marina was the unobstructed views of NYC we had, top notch and best we’ve ever had. The marina is central in Hoboken (town) and we were able to walk the town which had great shops and restaurants.

2016 Update. The docks at the Shipyard Marina are being replaced with heavy duty floating concrete docks for the upcoming 2016 season. There is new management and staff on board to give tenants the customer service they deserve.

Shipyard Marina Management

My condos assoc has a few boats here in the summer and aside from the view, this is a really lame marina. Staff is NOT knowledgeable or even available half the time. Very corporate feel to it. I recommend Liberty Landing for anyone looking for a real boating community.
