Friendly and convenient. Definitely recommend!

I loved this place. I only stayed one night, but would have liked to stay longer. Both launch drivers were great. One even let me tag along on a trip to the chandlery. I will be back. Oh yeah, west winds are difficult here.

The service at the club was really good. The amenities are minimal but Dave, the harbor master is very helpful. He guided us in and helped us with any needs. The problem is not the Yacht Club but rather the location. Be warned. It can be very noisy at night (Dave warned us and he was right). Motor boats buzz around the harbor blasting music, even on weeknights. I can't imagine what it would be like on the weekend. Once the music stopped (around 11), we enjoyed the night.

Our cruising club thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were headed to New York City, via Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City. We had 13 boats in our fleet at that time. Some of us took a tour of the City Island Maritime Museum which was very special. We ate at the "Johney's Reef which was a short walk from CIYC. We happened to meet the Commodore who was very informative and recommended how to traverse the East River and Hell's Gate that were very helpful. We would love to visit this yacht club again!

Great location to stop before entering or after exiting the East River. We enjoyed the launch service and welcoming staff. The clubhouse is cute, but a little outdated. The men's bathroom is in the basement, which has a very low ceiling. The women's bathroom requires walking up 2 flights of stairs. We loved walking around City Island and had an incredible dinner at the Black Whale. If we ever come back through NYC, we will definitely moor here again.

It was GREAT! We were on a mooring, and enjoyed the friendly treatment of Dave, the launch captain. He went out of his way to help us. Welcomed us to The Bronx! And made great recommendations for dinner! We had lovely views at night too!

Great location, easy access to New York City and the airports. Cute little town with lots of options for dining and sightseeing. Marina staff and members were great. Only downside was no access to Wi-Fi in the Mooring field.

Wet friendly, low key club with moorings and free tender service. Perfect location to stage a trip to NYC. City island was surprisingly quaint and pleasant.

Left our 45’ Jeanneau and tender for 10 days on a mooring ball while we travelled back home in prep for our next leg. Staff suggested tender be stored at small dock which is under security cameras. No problems at all. Uber access was quick and easy to airport and rental cars. Dock staff and everyone we met were friendly and professional. Highly recommended if you need a stop before timing currents at Hells gate or just sailing the area.

I keep my boat at a CIYC every summer. The club is fantastic, and the people are great. It is perfect mooring spot -- protected and convenient. It's the gateway to the Long Island Sound, and in the other direction a good place to wait for the right current through Hell Gate. Highly recommended!!!!

The Bathrooms/showers are old but kept clean. The staff is excellent as well as the resteraunt. City Island is a very quaint, friendly town with lots of ship building history.

This truly is a hidden jewel. Excellent launch service and very accommodating to some special request we had during our stay. Great view of Manhattan skyline in the distance and beautiful sunsets. Looking forward to our return in the fall!

Great location and great people! Enjoyed it very much. Nice walk in town with laundry, great coffee shop and fun restaurants. Who new that The Bronx had great marinas!

They sent a launch out to help us to find our mooring. The water taxi was quick and friendly. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. We asked for advice on transitting Hell Gate and they found a cruising group we could join for the transit. Outstanding!

A bit bumpy with a strong SW breeze but nice people. Would stay again. Great location if you are planning a run through Hell Gate the next day.

Not good, unprotected and a few mooring balls did not have lines to hook too!

by David E. - Verified user on Aug 10, 2020
good value, funky facility, great staff. By the way, they have a restaurant! Unfortunately we didn't find out until after standing in an extremely long line with extremely mediocre food, but we will try the YC next time. Yes, there will be a next time.

Easy in and out if you’re waiting to go through HellsGate

Gave us a mooring in close, away from “the edge”. Convenient to main road in City Island, bus stops, shops and restaurants.

Launch 7x24, plenty of restaurants, Arties, Sammy's etc....All within walking distance.
