Great marina and great family - the town also loves them and what they are bringing to the area . They have a pub and different nights they have food , tacos - a visiting food truck and bingo !! We took out bikes out to the waterfowl refuge and along the new Oakridge Trail . Locals are super friendly . The marina was good and the bathrooms fun and well designed !! Lots of sitting areas for loopers ,docktails and potluck dinners with friends !!

This is a small “old school” marina, family owned and super friendly and responsive. They assisted with every detail from approach guidance to docking to fueling to providing recommendations for next stops. There is a large laundromat directly adjacent and a small grocery store (we didn’t go in). Our five boat looper group enjoyed drinks, dinner and bingo at the pub next door. Good water all the way in, but call for final approach instructions due to the deadhead mentioned by others.

The marina is run by the finest family on the loop! Fran, Jacob and David are all incredible! We can’t thank them enough for a wonderful two day stop, from greeting to tie up, to use of golf cart. Everything was fantastic, thank you again for making great memories on “the loop”!

We had a peaceful stay here. Fran and her team are very responsive and they guided us into the marina and helped us dock. There is a shallow area nearby and a deadhead so make sure to heed their help. We only stayed one night but wished we had stayed more to enjoy the small town. Although I didn’t use it, there is a laundromat nearby. Marina bathroom is very clean. Secure area. Definitely worth a stay. We wish them the best as they have plans to expand.

Awesome staff. Docks are a work in progress. Walkable grocery store and restaurant. Easy in and out as long as you avoid the shallow spot and dead head. Staff directed us in perfectly!

Great small marina. It is shielded from wakes by a small island so we didn’t experience much rolling. Up the hill is a grocery store, bar and marine store which caters to fishing boats. Two blocks away is a restaurant with good food and prices. The marina staff is small but very friendly and responsive.

Fran is great and will work with you to accommodate you. Not much around this spot but deep water if you need it and fuel, water and pump out at a reasonable price.

Convenient, easy approach, good depth and floating dock. All amenities available including good fuel price and a well stocked market within short walking distance. We called ahead and received detailed directions and were met by Fran to receive our lines. Nice folks... glad we stopped here on our way south, in fact, extended to a second day to take advantage of a nice bike trail and bird refuge to stretch our legs.

Along the rivers, there are few places to stop for the night. Though it’s a long way from a classy marina, it provides the necessities: solid tie up, electricity, and water. The bathroom, located three stories up the hill adjacent to the marina, is surprisingly nice. The owner, Fran, and her son, a former Marine Corps officer, are as nice and helpful as can be. Within easy walking distance, there’s a very well stocked grocery store that includes a hardware store and a plumbing section. You could easily provisions the boat here. The only drawback is, she has room for just three looper class boats.

Our stay at Big Bend Hennepin’s Marina was perfectly fine. Plenty of water and Jake and folks were welcoming and very very helpful. Quiet and safe, the town had a well stocked grocery store ( we visited) and restaurants we did not eat as they were closed the day we visited. Fuel is available. Note: the photo on the Dockwa page of the marina is not accurate, caused a little confusion at first but staff communicated well and brought us in efficiently.

Family run marina that goes above and beyond. They’re just getting started and working hard to please. Convenient to grocery, laundry and ships store. Good stop for loopers. 5 star based on the staff.

Amazingly friendly hosts!! Provided s’mores for a camp fire for our group. Very clean, welcoming bathrooms. We we rafted off on the lock wall and still had access to water and electricity!! Highly recommended.

About Hennepin's Big Bend Marina

Hennepin's Big Bend Marina is a 23-slip facility with 100' of gas dock. We will have over 200’ of new dock getting added in 2026. Plenty of depth for larger vessels. A frequent stop over for travelers on the Illinois River. The marina offers a beautiful bathhouse, diesel fuel, premium gasoline, power, and water to boaters looking for a pleasant stop on their travels.

In 2024 Henry Harbor Marina Become Hennepin’s Big Bend Marina. We are thrilled to officially announce that we are relocating our marina from its current location in Henry, Illinois, to a new home along the beautiful riverfront in Hennepin, Illinois. We are located at mile 207.5
