Launch was too expensive to use, and their launch services other businesses which make them unavailable to their mooring customers. No amenities.
This is a mooring option of last resort in Vineyard Haven.

Helpful staff and capable launch service. Close to both dinghy docks. We weathered a storm here (SSW wind) with no issues. This was only to be a stopover on way to Edgartown - and served its purpose thanks to G&B. Visitors may want to factor in/balance the frequent and multiple ferries (and their signal horn), the potential to rock & roll while on the mooring against reliable mooring staff/moorings, the need for a rest/pump out, easy access to restaurants and proximity to MV Transit buses

Very easy in and out. Close to Owen dinghy dock and town. Sturdy moorings. Free pump out boat. Rolly from ferries, etc.

Stayed the night last weekend and G&B were very accommodating. Launch operator was great and easy to reach. Southerly breeze makes the mooring well protected by the breakwater. Will be back, thanks.

Secure mooring and decent launch services. Just need to work your way around the hours when the launch does not run and when it’s tied up for transport of passengers to and from the Alabama.

Vineyard Haven outside the breakwater is lovely in ordinary summer Southwest conditions. Anything out of the North or Northeast is miserable to untenable. During our brief stay, launch service was shut down for a while because a 10-15 kt breeze turned to a 2+ foot chop. The owner of the launch service was kind enough to come out for us in a RIB. Needless to say, it wasn't very pleasant aboard.

I have a 43ft 35000lbs with a 6.5ft draft. Plenty of depth, stout mooring line and a breakwater that shielded us from a SW 20 to 25 knot winds.

We stayed just one night this time around and had plenty of room for our 20 ft beam. The launch service showed us to our morning promptly and it was a fairly calm night!!

Great mooring. Second row on outside. Well protected, easy to pick up. No hassle. Dingy to town in 10 min. Would recommend.

Mooring field was empty, so the moorings were easy to find. Safe. Secure. Easy in and out with my dinghy to the dock by the ferry terminal. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and ice cream.

Easy to find mooring. Good communication. Professional, helpful staff. Mooring is outside the breakwater which is fine with the predominant SW wind, but with strong NE wind it is uncomfortable.

A pleasant night. G&B has the moorings closest to the breakwater so easy trip into the dinghy docks and amenities. I may look for one closer to the shoreline next time to be further from the busy harbor entrance and channel.

VH has grown up. 4 or 5 new restaurants. Town is bustling. The grocery store is right in center of town. Easy repositioning. Reserved mooring and launch service.

We made a reservation which was confirmed. When we hailed them they said they had none. Plse dont take reservations you cant fulfill. They charged our credit card too. The person i finally spoke too had no clue how to refund us. I am still waiting for my refund. .
About Vineyard Haven - G and B Moorings and Launch
MOORING RENTALS: We have 12 transient moorings located in the first two rows closest to the breakwater in the outer harbor (on the outside of the breakwater). Availability from June 25 through October 14th. Our moorings are the white, conical shaped mooring balls with a blue bottom marked “Rental”. Please do not take any with a small yellow ball or dinghy attached. Accepting Reservations via Dockwa OR in person on a first-come-first-serve basis. Cash/Check or Venmo ONLY for first-come-first serve rentals. NO inner harbor moorings. NO dockage/slips. NO rafting of vessels. PLEASE HAIL “the Vineyard Haven Launch Service” upon your approach on VHF Channel 72.
TRANSIENT MOORING RENTAL RATES: Overnight - $75 Half Day (4 hours) - $40
LAUNCH SERVICE: Operating from June 28th to September 2nd 2026 Launch service to and from the inner and outer harbor is available seven days a week, payable by CASH or CHECK or Venmo only to the launch driver. Hail “Vineyard Haven Launch Service” on VHF Channel 72 for a ride.
LAUNCH SERVICE HOURS: Sunday - Thursday 8:00 am to 9:00 pm (if a ride is needed after 9 for a unique circumstance please hail the launch service on CH 72) Friday and Saturday 8:00 am to 10:00 pm
LAUNCH SERVICE RATES: $5 per person per trip from any mooring $3 per trip for a child under 13 $3 for bikes $1 for dogs
