Safe Harbor Essex Island

A beautifully protected marina with very nice facilities. On-site restaurant and bar plus a very short (less than 30 seconds) ferry ride to cross to the town of Essex. So much within walking distance. Dock hands were friendly and helpful. We would definitely come again.

The Essex Island was a wonderful and we will come back again... even though it is only 100 feet away from the mainland... it was remarkable "away" from what little hustle and bustle of what historic Essex has to offer.

Nice location, excellent amenities and friendly staff. Some of the amenities need updating and I it looks like that's in process. When we filled up at our home club our fuel vent was blocked with spider debris. To be fair that could have4 happened before the trip. We were only there 2 nights. However when we told people about it, everyone noted that there's an issue with dock spiders at Essex. That was all word of mouth. I never noticed a spider on the docks or boat. At the end of the day, I think this is an excellent stop and would encourage you to visit them. If any concern about spiders I would check that out before the trip.

I I have been coming to Essex Island Marina for 50 years. We came back this year for a sale away. Everybody was very accommodating. It’s just sad to see that safe. Harbor has not kept up the Marina. It needs work. Docs buildings kind of sad to see the fatigue.

Always an enjoyable stay at the island, clean amenities, great staff makes for a memorable weekend! Our favorite weekend of the summer is spent at the island. Thanks Essex island for another great stay.

Safe Harbor Marina, Bazil's Stratford team in Stratford also excellent and ***** Star service, both Marina's Stratford saff is excellent and professional along with Essex Island staff professional and great assistance in docking our boat... Out trip up with another couple could not believe how everybody treated us all at both marinas hands off to Safe Harbor with a ***** star along with a 10 star team at both marinas, we cannot wait to plan more trips to other Safe Harbors. Marina was great. Clean, well maintained. The staff could not be more helpful or responsive to requests, Henry ( Marina manager) is a total professional and gentleman who could not be more helpful,

An absolutely beautiful marina. Clean, organized, and professional run. The staff was great. They were always there to help or answer a question. Small on site restaurant that was very good and not expensive. The ferry pontoon boat was always ready to take you across the small channel to bring you right into the middle of town which was another fantastic part of my trip and the marinas location. All in all everything was perfect.

At Essex Marina we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We try to make this trip at least once every year or two. The convenient barbecues, wonderful local restaurants, and friendly, helpful staff always make it a memorable experience. We had a great time and look forward to returning.

As always, a great stay. The dock staff is outstanding, ready to grab a line and answer any questions.

Great place very nice staff, clean grounds and facility

Loved this place! The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived. It was nice to have clean bathrooms, laundry on site, and a very convenient shuttle launch into town. We will be back again. Thank you SH Essex Island. - MisKelculation

LOVE THIS AREA.. HAD A GREAT TIME.

I used Essex Island Marine as a transient stay. My wife and I have stayed there several times in the previous years. I spoke to Henry on the phone. He made me feel very welcome. The dock hands were helpful. Every employee that I saw with a logo shirt gave me a nice hello. The grounds are very comfortable. I have considered other marinas in the area. This is always our first choice. Thank you for your efforts to make my stay so pleasant. Dave

Always a great time and Essex is a very neat town

Very nice facility. The staff was helpful. We had a nice swim in the pool to cool off and it was a quick walk to town where we enjoyed a nice dinner and a live pub singalong. Great fun!

The amenities are a real highlight: the pool is perfect for relaxing between trips, and the restaurant offers convenient, tasty options without having to go far. The docks are excellent—clean, solid, and well laid out—making docking and getting around easy and smooth. Location is another major win. With easy access to Essex, Connecticut, it’s a great base for exploring local sights, dining, and the charming waterfront. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would happily return.
