We stayed there from Dec 1-4, 2016, there are pro's and con's to this overall nice marina. Pro's: The staff is frendly and very helpful. The facilities are well maintained and clean. The trancient slips have floating docks. The marina is located close to old town Bradenton with easy walking access to stores, eateries, bars, library and museum. Con's: The trancient slips are on the "A"-dock, located next to the highway bridge. The trafic noise is loud during the day, but not to bad during the night. There is no protection from the east, with the long fetch along the river, you may get bounced pretty good on higher east winds. To use the restroom/shower facilities you have to leave the secured slip area and go for a short distance out on a public road. Hint's: If you travel on a sailboat, request to get a ODD slip-number on the "A"-dock, because the even number slips are right next to the bridge and there is not much room to manuver before your mast may hit the low bridge. Pier22, the onsite restaurant has good food at somewhat elevated prices. Should we come back here, we will most likely look for something in town. But as with all restaurant comments these are very subjective.
We were here last five years ago and Twin Dolphin hasn't changed a bit which is to say it's still great. As five star as a marina gets. Great shopping and nightlife, great facilities, great staff. We want to live here!
Good floating docks, helpful dockhands. Probably very good for long term dockage, but nothing to see in Bradenton.
Always a fun stop. Friendly staff, easy access to local bars. Great restaurant/bar onsight. Strong wifi. Friendly neighbotrs . . . what more could you want.
Facilities were nice, clean showers and baths. Heavy traffic weekend but staff hours are 9 to 430. Garbage overflowing around pool area, pool cloudy. Had to wait for fuel dock to open giving us a late start to the trip home. Good place to spend weekend, but not for overnight with early start.
Large well protected marina right in the heart of Bradenton. Friendly staff waiting to help get you tied up. Nice welcome packet including discounts to the museum and to the on-site restuarant. Niether should be missed. Floating concrete docks, secure gated enteries and within walking distance of all of downtown Bradenton. As good as an urban marina gets. Stayed January 2015
Stay 8 Months : May 2014 %u2013 December 2014
Overall ***** Great Location with easy access by river, channel well marked. Boat Draft is 5%u2019 and never had any issues. Downtown location with convenient access to shopping and transportation. Would Stay Again.
Docks ***** Floating docks in great condition. Depending on location it is a long walk to the clubhouse pool. Seawall around marina does block river view but no wake inside marina. Even with seawall always some current to be aware of when docking.
Facilities ***** Swimming pool, Laundry room, 6 Bathrooms with showers, Bathrooms cleaned daily a bit old. Pump out performed by marina at slips on weekly schedule or more if needed. Washers and dryers on site. Swimming pool and hot tub.
Office and Dock Personnel **** Always very friendly and helpful. Just be sure to review your monthly bill for accuracy, there was an occasional error.
Cable TV *****
Rates *** Reasonable monthly live aboard rates
Wifi ** Depending on location it is difficult to get a signal, a good antenna helps, the service speed is slow.
Spent ten days here visiting family, during which the Powerboat regatta was held on the river. Estimated 60,000 in attendance. OUr slip on A dock, while a little exposed, gave us a perfect venue for the "tunnel boat" and jet ski races, not to mention the fireworks after dark...
Great facility with pool, hot tub, laundry, restaurant, clean modern showers. $1.75 a foot plus electric and taxes for transients, 10 cent a gallon Boat US discount on fuel in February 2015
I snorked at the 1.75 a foot price. It's right in the center of town, 3 washers 3 dryers, cable tv and floating docks. But monthly is $6 per foot, so they really push the long term stay.
Marina: 3 wash 3 dry, pool, hot tub, 1/2 block to downtown, food on site, showeres are great.
Town: Walking for old fat people like me to food, post office, etc. They are in the center of town, all things are 12 blocks from your dock.
Dock: Crazy nice people walked up and talked to us.
Good place to stay, pick a week because overnight is costly
We stayed there one evening last week as a transient. It was our first time at Twin Dolphin and we were very impressed with the people and facility. It is well located, in the nice downtown area of Bradenton. Lots to see and do within walking distance. We will be back.
We needed propane and Bradenton Propane is about 12 blocks from the marina. Picked up a little gas and the marina was slow so they let us stay tied up for an hour to walk up to get propane. Bradenton uses numbered streets and avenues and I went in the wrong direction but finally found propane. Mel was kind in giving us a ride back to the marina. Many restaurants within a few blocks of marina. Only a little convenience store, The Market, within a few blocks.
I concur with all that has been said about this Marina. If you are anywhere near this Marina you should definately check it out. Corina, the office administrator, welcomed us and it was just our luck there was a Marina sponsered bring a dish dinner the following day. We also found Sandy Paws at 624 14th ST. West, our pooch needed a nail trim and the service was great. The air conditioned rest rooms are very clean and spacious. Nice pool.
Twin Dolphin on the Manatee River is huge. It spans east and west along downtown Brandenton. There are only 5 unisex shower/bath facility for all to use at the east end. If you are at the west end it%u2019s a long walk to the east end. And once you get no shower/bath available. All occupied! Bradenton%u2019s Riverwalk is lovely yet Old Main Street and Village of the Arts have a long way to go before it has the same inviting appeal Sarasota%u2019s Main Street and off Main Street offers. The number one establishments are attorney offices advertising in multi-languages with the County Courthouse as the anchor business. Had an excellent dinner at Pier 22 Restaurant located in the center of the marina on Manatee River and enjoyed morning runs along the Riverwalk.
This Marina is a very safe harbor with great floating docks. Plus all the options a marinar is looking for with Pool. Hot Tub, Clean Showers, Great Food. Just a short walk to downtown mainstreet with all the restraunts an pubs you could ask for within within walking distance
Very unfriendly to transit boaters and not very helpful
Very strong current on Dock A. Difficult to get in and out. Would recommend using slips on the opposite side of the Marina Docks E-G if available. Very nice marina and accommodations, Ice, staff, etc. The pool and patio area is very nice. Quality restaurant %u201CPier 22%u201D is at the marina. Will stay again %u2013 on Dock G if possible.
A great place to spend some time - The new Riverwalk walking trail just east is fantastic. The South Florida Museum right next door has lots to offer. Downtown restaurants and bars offer low priced variety.
Could keep our boat most ant where but we choose and continue to call Twin Dolphin home. Top notch facilities, very protected and safe, floating docks, in slip pump out, helpful friendly staff. Great onsite resruarant and Bradenton area has nearly anything you could need or want.
Secure docks were fixed wood in average repair. Strong current. Friendly staff, free ice, nice pool, downtown Bradenton, great showers/bath. Excellent seafood restaurant onsite. Fl History Museum very informative.
This was a very accomidating and nice marina. Two day stay gets you a 'package deal' free ice, gift certificate to restrurant and discount to mesusem.. Nice pool and showers clean grounds nice staff. Will come back if cruising this way again.
I always enjoy coming to this marina, and I%u2019ve made it here many times over the last 14 years. It has great facilities (always clean and well maintained), is in a great location, and has a very friendly and helpful staff. There are many marina options locally, I%u2019ve checked them all and I choose Twin Dolphin every time.
Good water depth ( I drwaw 5.5 ft) nice floating docks. Stay 2 or more nights and get discount at restaraunt and free ice. Nice staff. Pumpouts dockside. Small but nice farmers market a few blocks away on Saturday morning. The public library with prininting capability right across street.
Date 3-28-13 We spent two weeks everyone made us feel right at home.Pump out at slip, floating docks, great little downtown area,we will be back.
The floating docks are nice, just tie up and forget about it. Being assigned a slip right next to the large highway bridge was less than ideal, but still not bad. The restaraunt has a great atmosphere, but the food was nothing more than average.
Our plans were to just spend a week at Twin Dolphin and then continue south towards Marathon. After just 2 days decided to extend our stay for a month. Steve the harbormaster and his staff are the best. Shower facilites are some of the best we have ever seen. The Saturday Farmers Market, numerous restaurants and the many street festivals and events are just 3 short blocks from the marina. There is even a new Quick Mart at the marina for basic food needs (bread, milk, canned goods etc.) and is expected to sell beer and wine in a week. The nearest Publix is over the bridge by bike, about a mile, or in Bradenton by bus or bike, about 2 miles. There are two West Marine store nearby, both on the bus route. There is also a restaurant (Pier 22) at the marina that has great happy hour specials. Next time we are passing on the west coast of Florida we will definitely stay here again.
Great facilities, clean, everything the prior reviews have said. Added a shopette, "It's About Time" in January, with the basic essentials like canned goods, ice cream, breakfast items, water, working on ETOH and baked goods 941-896-9616. Ebb current can be tricky, especially in the section east of the restaurant pier. Flood current not so bad. Watch for signs of current on the sea wall as you enter in front of the restaurant.
Spent one night here. Very friendly and helpful staff. Several restaurants and bars a short walk. A Publix is about 2 miles away. They have free loaner bikes, so we hopped on and got to Publix in about 10 minutes.Restrooms and showers are clean and private.Easy in and easy out, I called ahead and they provided me with the "local knowledge". Free bag of ice, free pumpout, wifi spotty.Only downside is you can hear the road. Docks A, B, C are close to the highway.
Jim and I stayed at Twin Dolphin Marina for over a year and we must say that it is certainly one of the best marinas we have stayed at in our 25 years of cruising and living aboard. To begin with the facilities, marina and docks are spotless and the staff are friendly and courteous. Everything you can ever need is within walking distance including a great waterfront restuarant Pier 22. We highly recommend this marina as a weekend spot and/or long term stay.
kinda nice place but dont expect Wi-Fi, or to get your clothes dried in the dryers...
We stayed at Twin Dolphin last weekend and had a wonderful time. The marina was well protected and we got a good night sleep both nights. Walk along the waterfront provides a great place to take pets. Free bag of ice every day!!
Very nice facility a little off the beaten path. Nice breakwater, good staff. Would stay here again!
Nice, clean marina. Accommodating staff. Friendly dock denizens. Short walk up old Main Street to some good restaurants and bars, try Fisherman Joe's. Huge library across the street. Plantetarium, Museum and Art Center within a few blocks. Highly-rated Mattison's Restaurant is centered in the marina. Occasional street fairs in front of the marina can be interesting.
Detractions - Live music from Mattison's Restaurant until 11 PM Th, F, S and 8 PM W and Sunday can get annoying. Street fairs can make access difficult and will disrupt parking (they'll even tow cars that interfere with vendor spaces).
Easy access, short run down river to Snead Island Boat Works. Lots of available slips.
I recommend Freundship Marine for repair work, mostly instrumentation, electrical, plumbing, rigging, etc.
Great facility. Restaurant is wonderful. 30 ft. min $1.50 per ft.
Stayed here for 3 days in October. Everyone was so friendly and nice. Also had down town right there to walk to other restaurants. Can be a bit of walk to the laundry facility but it was no problem leaving clothes in the washer/dryer while doing something else on the boat.
This is a good facility with nice solid floating docks and great helpful staff.
decent facility, has all the needs of a liveaboard.
I kept my boat here from 2006 to 2007. Most definitely the finest marina establishment I've ever tied to. It was expensive, but Charlie & Pam treated my wife, daughter, and me like family.
The facilities are top notch and the staff here stays on top of everything.
Sorry to hear Charlie is no long there, as he was a major factor of the cleanliness and security of the whole place.
Tampa Sailing Squadron visited in June 2010. Twin Dolphins was very accomidating - excellent staff. Pool side we enjoyed the use of the grills. Docks are excellent. Resturant is great too.
Sgt Major Charlie is no longer employed. Fixed docks closest to restrooms and pool and floating docks in the other basin. Great happy hour at the bar on the pier. Downtown, try Fav's for super Italian food and pizza.
Worth the short detour off the ICW up the Manatee River to a fine marina: nice pool/hot tub, Mattison's (excellent food, very good service, moderate price for an on-water restaurant), protected and secure with a very accomodating dockmaster. There appeared to be number of "extended cruisers" - a friendly lot. Great place to lay back and recharge your cruising batteries. Old downtown Bradenton is trying: newly landscaped and redone sidewalks, nice lighting, two additional small restaurants nearby but quiet. Not much here to bring in the tourist crowd.
Great marina. Stayed for 1 month on G dock. Charlie, Pam and all the staff were very helpful and went out of thier way to make us welcome. Rick (Snow Goose)
