The marina is old and tired with no dock Wi-Fi. The only reason for my 5 stars is the location and the Dockmaster Frank is great

The Harbor Master is fabulous. Great communications. He contacted me before we arrived to see our ETA and was waiting for us when we arrived. Fabulous location.

Frank, the dock master was so friendly and helpful. We had a great time in St. Petersburg. Nice marina convenient to everything. Wonderful town. We will be back soon.

+ great functional showers. hot water drains pitched correctly + walk off boat and you're in town + price - no wifi on boat - needs tlc

We just spent a long weekend at the marina and Frank made everything so easy for us. We have stayed at this marina numerous times and have always enjoyed ourselves. The only big issue we have is that they do not have WiFi. I'm really hoping they work on this soon so we can use our televisions on board.

Docks in poor condition and disrepair. Dock house outdated and needs upgrades. Not consistent with the St. Pete image. Some items were unsafe. No trash bins on dock. Frank the Dockmaster was great and helpful.

Wooden dock pillars are in serious need of some rubber strips on them to keep the wood from scratching the paint on my boat. But, the staff is very, very nice and accommodating. They all made it very easy to stay here and I look forward to many visits

Marina is well located. Walk to galleries, museums, waterfront parks. Free trolley steps away. Dock master and staff are helpful and met us to manage docking. Facilities aren’t luxurious but are adequate. We’ve certainly paid more for a lot less.

Great staff, safe and convenient. Frank takes great pride in making you comfortable. Stayed again and still great staff! Hopefully they continue the current ownership. Only disappointed that now there is very loud music in the nearby public park on weekends.

Great location, good facilities, reasonable price, Frank (dockmaster) was very helpful.

A Wanderer’s guide to St. Petersburg Municipal Marina

Located off the beautiful and new St. Pete’s Pier, it is hard to get closer to downtown to all the sites this artistic, fun city has to offer than St. Petersburg Municipal Marina. After tying up, don’t be surprised if you find yourself coming back several hours later because there is so much within walking or biking distance (St. Pete is very bike friendly!) –so be sure to pack a bag for the day!

Approach and Dockage

St. Petersburg Municipal Marina is located in between Albert Whitted Airport and the newly rebuilt St. Pete Pier off of Tampa Bay. Enter the marina basin between the green and red channel markers with the pier to your starboard side. After entering between the channel markers, keep the pier to your starboard side and Demens Landing Park/St. Petersburg Marina Office to your port side. The transient dock is a long t-dock in the northern basin across from the fuel dock.

Marina Amenities

Bathrooms/Showers There is a bathhouse, a short walk away, specifically for North dock slip holders, including transients. The women’s and men’s rooms each have a side for showers and a side for bathroom stalls.

Laundry Two coin operated washing machines and dryers in the bathhouse.

Pet Access The transient dock is directly across from St. Pete Pier, a public park with plenty of green spaces and interactive parks where you can take your pet to shore.

Ship Store The marina office has a small ship store with snacks and basic boat parts.

Fuel/Pump-Out Fuel dock with gas and diesel is located directly in front of the marina office. Pump-out is located on a separate small dock next to the fuel dock, which can be a little tricky to tie up to depending on the size of your boat. However, the city has a pump out boat that can come to your boat certain days of the week.

Proximity to Attractions by Land

Getting Around A lot of the main attractions are accessible by foot or bike. If you don’t have a bike (or even if you do), it’s easy to pick up an e-scooter for rent via Veo and Razor to scoot around the city. The city also offers trolleys for 50 cents a ride that can take you around downtown and even to the beach and back.

St. Pete Pier (0 miles) Opened in 2020, the newest version of the St. Pete Pier is a fun interactive park with restaurants, art, playgrounds, and more. Take a trolley or walk the roughly half mile length of the pier, stopping along the way to dodge sprinklers at the Splash Pad, run around the Glazer Family Playground (best to go at night to see the Bending Art Sculpture aglow), or grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants on the pier.

The Hangar Restaurant (1 mile) On the other side of the marina is the city’s Albert Whitted Airport, where small and personal aircraft take off and land from all over the area. Even better is you can watch the activity on the runway while enjoying a delicious meal at the Hangar Restaurant. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but recommend coming for their award winning breakfast and sitting on their back patio to enjoy the views.

St. Pete’s Art Scene (All museums 1 mile or less) St. Petersburg is home to a bustling art scene–with a ton to see and do within steps of the marina. The Dali Museum has the largest Salvador Dali collection outside of Spain. Over 20,000 works of art, including those by Monet and Georgia O’Keefe are on display at the Museum of Fine Arts. The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art is a collection cultivated by St. Petersburg residents’ Tom and Mary James and reflecting their love for the West. Morean Arts Center hosts the Chihuly Collection featuring Dale Chihuly’s glass artwork.

Saturday Market (0.4 miles) If you’re here on a Saturday, you can’t miss the St. Pete’s Saturday Morning Market, open every Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm from Oct-May in the Al Lang Stadium parking lot. Stock up on fresh produce, crafts, and tasty food from 125+ local merchants. Hardest part will be deciding what you can fit on your boat!

Flatbread & Butter (1.2 miles) Nestled in the Historic Uptown neighborhood on the edge of Historic Round Lake Park, some of St. Pete’s best pizza can be found at Flatbread & Butter. A cozy restaurant, you can order your pizza and a glass of wine and eat in the restaurant or take your pizza to go back to the boat or make yourself a picnic and enjoy at the park.

Vinoy Park (0.6 miles) North of St. Petersburg Municipal Marina, this park is great to walk, bike, run or take a blanket and relax in the grass all while taking in great water views of Tampa Bay.

Pete’s General & Pete’s Bagels (2.5 miles) Founded by a New York native with a vision to bring fresh bagels to St. Pete, Pete’s General and Pete’s Bagels is a must-stop if you love fresh baked bread, pastries, and creative, locally made crafts and goods. Half the store is a bakery and the other half is filled with fun Florida-inspired items for sale from t-shirts to posters and more. It’s worth the trek.

Mazzaro’s Italian Market (4.2 miles) A full-fledged Italian market with a bakery, deli, coffee bar, butcher, seafood counter, wine store, and more. It’s a bit out of walking distance, but if you have a car or bike, worth the trip to check out the scene, and get some inspiration to book a future trip to Italy after you’re done cruising Florida.

Publix (0.8 miles) If you need to stock up on groceries, Publix is an easy walk or bike from the docks.

Proximity to Attractions by Sea

Sunshine Skyway Bridge (12 miles) St. Pete provides boaters with easy access to open water cruising as well as the intercoastal waterway. On a calm day (or windy one if you sail) cruise out to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, for views of one of the longest cable bridges in the world.

Downtown Tampa (21 miles) Head the opposite direction to Tampa where you can tie up to one of several restaurants or area docks to explore and enjoy a meal.

Gulfport via the Intracoastal (14 miles) If you’re looking for more protected waters, hug the coast (but follow the channel) and make your way to the intracoastal where you’ll pass Eckerd college students taking a break between classes on the campus beach. Continue farther north up the channel and either drop the hook and dinghy in or if your boat can fit, tie up at Gulfport’s free dinghy day dock to explore the shops and restaurants in this quaint town on the water.

The Big Catch (1.8 miles by land; 3 miles by water) Easily accessible by land or water (they have a small dock for a few boats and dinghies). Tucked away on Salt Creek, you’ll quickly understand why this charming tiki bar and restaurant is a popular watering hole for locals. Grab a seat at the bar or a picnic table and admire the boats at the several boat yards that line this quiet cove. The food is fresh, the drinks are cold and the music is fun–what more could you want!
