Restrooms are usually clean. There is only one of the 2 advertised computers, and it normally doesn't work, butthere is a public library with computer access 3 block down the street. Ice is no longer free--it is now $1.50 for residents, $2.50 for others. WiFi strength is low, most residents can't use it to check their email from their boats, but it works grat in the East boaters lounge--no connectivity in the West Boaters lounge. There are restaurants onsight and nearby. Staff and residents are friendly and helpful.
I wish I could leave an extra half star because I like the marina and staff but parking is a big issue. The long dock make it a hike as there is no parking reserved for Marina tenants. I currently eat at one of the two restaurants about 10 times per week and get hassled into walking when I ask the golf kart shuttle for a lift.. (I'll probably buy a bike but the marina should be able to come up with a golf cart or two for tenants). Rick at the cafe has better food with better cooks than the Riverhouse but the staff at both restaurants are great. I would recommend this marina to everyone but would caution anyone who has not seen the parking situation.
Super nice, super helpfull, valvetect fuel 10 block walk to publix
The marina has a fantastic set of services listed that are provided. The issue is they are not really functional including the actual slip.
We phoned ahead of our arrival planning to stay for 6 months. We provided boat dimension data including depth and were provided a slip. At mid to high tide it wasn't an issue but at low tide, we woke up listing 10 degrees to port. Not only was the slip too shallow for a 3.5' draft, we were over a foot to short! I learned by talking to folks that the marina well knows it and everyone was expecting this to happen. So why put us in that slip!?
Wifi is also a key attraction for people; if it works. They have great coverage but it hasn't worked in two days. Telling the staff ended in a comment, "oh, we've been having issues".
Other concerns to note: The marina isn't very well protected from waves. The sea walls are walls and have huge gaps. The nice docks are only for the charter and brokered boats. Getting anywhere is a hike; all amenities that do work are scattered throughout the property, 5 minutes part from each other.
Everyone we've met is very friendly.
Affordability is good
Despite issues, have a nice community and nice freebies
Overall it's a nice harbor but it should not be a Captain's 1st Choice marina. It is apparent in speaking with the live-a-boards and the staff that marina leadership is interested in cash flow and not doing all of the necessary investments. It is inexcusable to damage tenants boats because you don't know how deep your marina really is. If all of the issues are addressed, then it would be a great place to visit.
I came here on a Friday for a weekend stay.
At Regatta Pointe there are two parts to the marina; there is the Western docks and the Eastern docks. It is like there are two different marinas. The main Eastern docks is where the yacht brokers are and the marina office, boaters, lounge, fitness room, restaurants and pool. Access to the pool is by way of the enterance to one of the restaurants.
There was one employee on duty when I arrived on a Friday afternoon; I registered and was told to 'settle up' the bill when I leave. I was assigned a slip on the Western docks. I had to try three peestals before I found one that I could use and I thought the docks were rickety and unsteady. The private heads & showers were clean and in a building on a barge. The building itself was being renivated and it was a work in progress. To get to the office from my slip was at leaset a 300 yard walk. On Sunday morning I walked over to the office to pay my bill; I asked about the 5% BoatUS discount they declined. I gave the gentleman there my credit card and he said something about the machine not working and proceded to write out all my information on a note pad, He returned my card and left the office and took the pad upstairs to process the charge elsewhere I thought. When he returned several minutes later without a receipt he seemed surprised and a bit put off that I wanted one. Clearly, as a transient, the Eastern docks are the only ones I would recommend here and then only if their creditcard machine is working.
I had an hour or two to kill while waiting for a yacht to come up from Miami. I sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. Very good and resonably priced. Next time, I will sail in for dinner and the live music on the weekends.
We lived aboard here for two years before we started cruising. Very liveaboard friendly! Staff is honest and helpful. Wonderful restaurant and other amenities. Laundry is nice. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend!
we have been here several times and have always had nice visits. The staff have always been polite, friendly, and attentive. Will be back to this marina many times.
Our stay at Regatta Pointe has been great. The people have treated us like family. Amenities really nice and well kept. Small town atmosphere. Mrs. Margaret, marina manager, is a liveaboard, and runs a tight ship, in a good way! Only bad is fuel prices not competitive for big boats.
Perfect spot! We spent a month here and decided to sign a year lease. Just over the bridge so this marina is quieter than the one across the river. Buses will take you everywhere for $1.50, you don't need a car at all. Grocery, Post Office, and restaurants all less than a mile away. Heated pool and hot tub are a big plus. Restrooms and showers are immaculate and cleaned daily. Laundry room has 5 washers and 5 dryers! VERY liveaboard friendly!
The entire staff is very helpful and customer service oriented. The on site restaurants are very good and fairly priced. You get a free bag of ice each day along with a newspaper. The exercise room and the boaters lounge are excellent. The marina is isolated and you will need a car to get around. They have a good population of "work a boards" so there is not much interaction with your dockmates. We especially appreciated Paul.
Best Marina I have ever stayed, everyone is terrifically helpful.
Would be my top choice for live aboard. Bradenton just across the river where I lived for some time while working for Chris - Craft. Spent some time in the marina and other than the bridge I loved my time there
Stayed a couple of days after coming over from Mobile. Helpful staff, very clean facilities, probably the nicest showers/bathrooms I have found on this trip. Good dinning on the dockk and off the dock. Good parking if you have a car. Laundry is the best I have found, machines work! Boaters lounge with TV and computer. Reasonable priced. Will stay on return trip.
Good place to take on fuel. Easy access to fuel dock for my 5' draft 48' trawler. Plenty of room to maneuver. (Rating is for fuel dock only; did not use the dock).
This place has it all and the staff is great. Will stay here again.
been living aboard here since june 2013. friendly place and pet friendly. they have had some issues with the slip side pump outs but they have been working hard to resolve the issues.
Very nice people, friendly and accomidating. Boaters lounge, laundry, pool, hot tub...quiet at night. Cant wait to go back!
We just left after spending three months. We will return if we are in the neighborhood next year. Very accommodating staff, excellent restaurant, slipside do-it-yourself pumpout. The pool and hot tub are not well situated for my taste and got very little use. Friendly and social group of liveaboards. Monthly marina-sponsored potlucks.
Easy bike ride to Publix, CVS, hardware, public library and many small shops. Bus 99 can take you through Bradenton, to the airport, and into Sarasota for $0.60 for old folks. Downtown Palmetto is struggling, but far from down and out. Yes, fixed docks, but they did not present a problem for our setup.
The marina has all the amenities(nice excercize room, a pleasent if querky pool in a resteraunt, showers, captain's room, nice laudery, etc). My only concern was the orginal dock I was assigned had a cleat where the board came up with the cleat about 3 inches. They offered to repair it using deck screws, but I prefered to move. The docks are somewhat worn in places so take care, but we spent a pleasent week. Wifi works well at night, but less well during the day.
We were very familiar with Regatta Pointe when we were down here in Nov. 2011 on our looper boat buying expedition - Charlie Penergrass of American Marine. The marina has two-day boaters expos with seminars and speakers twice a year. Nice touch. All the amenities are very modern and clean. Huge showers. Nice laundry. Pump out at the slips. Next to Hwy. 41 which is a major north-south thoroughfare, so there is traffic noise. Hwy. 41 will get you anywhere from Tampa down to past Sarasota. Marine Surplus in Sarasota is a must. Renting a car would probably be a good idea. Enterprise in Bradenton is the closest. Manatee River is very nice. Previous comments about high docks is accurate but not a deal breaker. Bow in would be ok if your rail exit is 20' from your bow. Good electrical. Wifi not so good but excellent internet in their very nice lounge. Phone calls work better than radio. They are very interested in having more Loopers stop. Give them a call. Very clean, lots of dining options, helpful staff and right on hwy 41 make this a five star rated marina in our opinion.
We stayed here 5/25/12 for a night. No answer to hail on VHF 16 but answered phone. Dockmaster was helpful and met us at the dock for assistance. Minor complaint as to how docks are numbered so went down wrong fairway. Docks are old wooden and fixed. Smaller boats may need to board the docks from a gunwale. Ate dinner at the RiverView restaurant and was very nice with great views. Breakfast the next morning at the cafe was very nice and reasonable.
Pool is nice but needs a good cleaning. Hottub was luke warm but clean.
Price is right at 1.50/ft and we will be back.
Both resturants are very good. The RiverHouse has excellent viewing all aroung of the area, and they have a good menu with reasonable prices.
Riverside Cafe has been around forever, and sports a Greek menu. This is a popular locals waypoint.
An all around wonderful marina. Friendly staff, clean and extensive facilities, groceries withing reasonable walking distance, West Marina nearby, busses run regularly. Fine dining and casual resteraunt on site, as well as a wonderful ship store. After some storm damage, we were forced to do extensive repairs on our boat, and the stafff went above and beyond to help and accomodate us. Everyone was wonderful, and the marina was fantastic. If not for our need to keep moving, we would have stayed more than a week (which was seven times as long as we intended to in the first place.
not impressed with the old fixed docks. at low tide you better have an ingenius way to board your boat. restaurant there was ok and expensive. not our choice for the area
Called ahead to get fuel and pumpout, directed me to the fuel dock and were waiting for me. Helped with fuel tanks, water tank and "porta potti" cleanout. Great service with many smiles.
This is a great facility with two good restaurants and generally nice staff. Very helpful and easy to get along with
Great Liveaboard Marine. Good staff, helpful, clean
Very good for liveaboards. Construction of docks is a bit dated and needs investment and repairs. Clean and spacious washrooms, laundry. Can be quite exposed due to the fetch of the Manatee River when strong winds pipe up in the summer. Easy access (within walking distance) to shopping.
nice marina. lots of barnical growth.
