We spent 4 nights here leading up to Hurricane Florence. The reception was good. The docks, water and power were all excellent. The marina itself was quiet but there is a lot of ship traffic going by and some noise from the shipyard across the river.
There are several live aboard boats in the harbor and they are not very attractive.
The main problem with the marina is the state of the washrooms, common room and laundry room. They are dirty with filthy doors, hair and dirt in all the corners on the floors, mold and a multitude of used dryer sheets on the floor of the laundry room (which my wife picked up). It wouldn't take much to clean it up.
Other than that the place was acceptable.

Marina services were fine, loud partying on neighboring boat well after midnight was annoying and quite different from previous stays.

Great. My normal stop on the way North or South. Moderate walk to several Old Town places to eat. Deck hands are always very helpful.

This is by far the best of the three marinas we've stayed at in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area. All the staff members are courteous, friendly, and helpful. Rod and Dave helped us into the slip with smiles and were very welcoming. The facility is clean, well kept, with nice restrooms, showers, and terrific laundry room. It felt as if they were willing to go out of their way to provide excellent service and answer questions. The landing for the ferry to Norfolk is close as are many good restaurants and historical sites. Old Towne is a lovely area for a stroll.
