I don't usually leave reviews, but my summer transient docking experience was so AWESOME! I felt the need to counterpoint a recent negative review. Sister Bay Marina is super safe and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I've used numerous marinas before and for a municipal one, not a "yacht club" the marina is gorgeous and in a prime place in Door County. I highly recommend it.

Marina is not a safe harbour, and advised that they would untie our boat in high winds, and dangerous conditions, as they had another booking from a VIP customer(political donor) who had priority over our vessel, even though we also had a paid reservation. Very disappointing in their lack of professionalism, and customer service. There was zero consideration given to the safety of vessel or crew(young family). Town itself is very nice, but would not recommend this marina whatsoever.

Helpful staff and quality docking facility in spite of the high water of Lake Michigan. Lots to do in Sister Bay close to the Marina.

Great Marina! Dave and Collin were very helpful. I've never seen it cleaner and I've been coming to this marina for years. Super close walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars. They have courtesy bikes to use also. Wifi is solid, we were way out on the end of A dock.

Well protected and close to town. Friendly and helpful staff. Grocery store is bit of an uphill hike. Clean but small shower/restroom facilities.

The restrooms and showers need updating badly.

We loved being back here since it's been 5 or 6 years since the last time. We have always loved this marina! Thanks to the dock hands for the help getting in! Also, thanks for letting us check in early as the weather was rather rough out on the water!

Very nice marina and town. The docks could use new wood planks.

Great harbor personal, the only suggestion is that bold signage is needed at the slips near the launch area to keep folks from docking in paid for slips. We had to move from our rental slip a number of times due to people parking a boat in our slip. The harbor people don’t have time to police effectively. Definitely an easy fix.

We booked a couple of months in advance, yet when we arrived with our friends (separate boats) we were put on different docks on opposite sides o the marina. Boats that came in after us, were put on the dock we wanted to be on. The bathrooms were inoperable the first day of Memorial Day weekend. one of the gas grills was inoperable, but only needed gas. Did they not know what weekend it was !!! The huge boat on the dock, Hat Trick, was washing his truck on the dock on Sunday. Totally unacceptable. I will not be in a hurry to return. Very disappointed.

Nice Marina w/ lots of convenient shopping & dining opportunities. Only real issue are the bathrooms...old, dark and showering is difficult when everything gets wet.
Marina Response:
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our Marina. I would like to get some clarification on what you mean by "showering is difficult when everything gets wet?" And not sure what you mean by "dark" ? The bathrooms were updated in 2016 and have several lights throughout which are all in working order there is also some natural light that comes through. Are you referring to the "dark" colored countertops? If I could get some clarification on this review I would love to share your feedback with our Marina Committee so we can look into how we can improve the bathrooms. Thank you!

UPDATE: The bathroom was dirty. The women's was even LOCKED. I understand and acknowldege your technology issue. You should have a backup plan. Put a name and number in the window of the building. Do something to facilitate some communication with your customers. At the end of the day we are all paid via customer service. You are very fortunate to have a spectacular city "Sister Bay" to be the destination. Original Review: This is a horrid marina. The women's bathrooms was inaccessible. The Mens was absolutely filthy. The showers especially. The literature stated there would be someone there till 4pm. We arrived at 3:15 and no one around. We had to contact DOCAWA for internet code and bathroom code. When arriving we were told to be on channel 9. No one was monitoring CH9. We called the marina via cell phone and no one answered. HUGE improvements are needed in STAFF and facility. This is a very busy marina. Don't know why it can't be better.
Marina Response:
I again want to apologize for the misunderstanding. As I stated through OUR DOCKWA chat , there was an internal error and we did not have a record of your reservation for that day. Due to the slow activity (2 arrivals) we decided early that morning to close 2 hours early to let our staff have a few extra hours to regroup and prepare for another busy weekend. Had we had your reservation in the system, we most certainly would have contacted you ahead of time, as we did with our other arrivals, to determine what your arrival time would be. As for your comments regarding the bathrooms, we do not have 24 hour bathroom attendants on staff, however, we do clean, sanitize and stock all of our bathrooms several times throughout the day. I imagine that had your arrival been a more pleasant experience you would not have been as inclined to rate us 1* nor make harsh comments regarding our staff. We try our best to provide exceptional service to everyone and I am sorry we failed to do so with you. And I again apologize for the mistake in your reservation. Technology is not as full proof as we would like it to be and unfortunately errors due happen from time to time. We just hope that people understand. I do hope in the future when in Door County that you find another Marina in our beautiful area that will better meet your needs. Regards, Amy- Marina Manager

My wife and I have visited SBM a couple of times this season and enjoyed each visit. We reserved a slip for this weekend a couple weeks ago and still decided to come (despite the the less than favorable winds :-) ) because we wanted to get in our last cruise to Sister Bay. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We very much appreciated their help with the crazy weather and waves! We are so glad we decided to make the trip! We cannot wait for next summer and hope to see them next year!!

Sister Bay was beautiful. The people were friendly and the star gazing at night is something you have to experience. I wish there was better transportation to neighboring Fish Creek and Egg Harbor. This isn't a reflection of the marina, but just the town itself.

We enjoyed another wonderful stay at the Sister Bay Marina. The Marina is great to to work with - Chris and others always answering the phone and also responding immediately when hailing upon arrival with dock hands ready to assist. Protected Harbor with much activity. Fun to watch the sailboats and other watercraft pass by. The area here is very beautiful- both by water and walking into the village. Everything is easily accessible. We look forward to future stays in the Sister Bay Marina. Thanks to the staff! Brad & Deb

Men shower could be improved, but everything else was fine.

Very nice little marina. Bath house is ok for a municipal marina. It was clean for the most part. Employees were polite. We didn't need any services so nothing to add there. We just parked the boat and ran out into the bay and came back in for 3 days. It is right down town so close to everything in Sister Bay. We will go back.

Great time. Friendly, helpful staff. Located in the middle of town near all activities. Beautiful sunsets right from our boat. Bill

Great place! We stayed here for 4 nights and only planned for 3! We didn’t want to leave quite yet and they were able to accommodate us last minute! The staff was friendly and very helpful as we went in and out of our slip for day trips to the beach. Will definitely be back!
Marina Response:
Thank you for the review! We were happy to be able to accommodate you for an extra night. Hope to see you again in the near future! Tank you again for the kind words, we appreciate it!

We had two different animals in our last 2 visits to this marina. We were there July 28-30. We had excellent response from staff and were assigned slip B21-22. Got a pump out. Great job by staff and facilities. Forward to our visit the following week Aug. 4-6 different experience. We also had high winds that day just like the review from Aug. 5. When we arrived we were assigned slip 49. This necessitated going into the marina turning around to access the slip. At 43’ our boat was protruding into the fairway narrowing it across from the clipper ship. Also because of the high winds the center post in the dock scraped all night long immediately next to our cabin. Twice we went into staff and asked about a slip reassignment. There were a number of empty slips at the time and small day boats tied up individually in slips. Yet the staff both times said they could not change our slip assignment. We were disappointed in their lack of flexibility and customer concerns. I guess it comes down to slip utilization. Small day boats should be accommodated in slip 49 where two small boats could moor and have access in and out. When you make your Dockwa reservation you do not know what slip you have been assigned so what is the problem with reassigning a slip as long as all the reservations can be accommodated. We have been in this marina the last two years and last year there was a much better job of maximizing slip usage. If done correctly it would also increase revenues for the marina and Town. Not a bad thing either. After the below response, nice attitude. Who is actually responding for Sister Bay Marina? A name? I am sure the Town administration and Chamber of Commerce would be interested in your comments. YOU asked me to post a review of your marina and my experience , then you get snarky telling me to visit another marina? Wow, so much for customer service.
Marina Response:
I’m sorry you had a difficult time maneuvering your vessel. Please understand that we have over 40 transient slips, of which are all different sizes including WELL sizes. We do our best to accommodate as many vessels as we can, precisely why we could not relocate you, because we were sold out. There are a lot of factors involved with placing vessels in slips I.e boat length, BEAM size, dates of stay, specific slip requests...I wish it were as “easy” as you describe and we could just let everyone choose their slip location, but unfortunately just because you may see an open slip does not mean your vessel will fit for the days you requested. I apologize that you did not enjoy your slip location and hopefully you will find one of the other marinas in Door County to be a better fit for you in the future.

The day prior to our arrival we received an email stating that the marina would be closed at 3:00 PM on the day of arrival "due to weather". We had no alternative. The marina provided facility access codes over the phone but indicated there would be nobody around when we arrived. This is crazy. Because it was windy when assistance docking is needed most they decided to go home early?! To the credit of the staff they arranged with a local business to have someone on hand to help us. We arrived 40 minutes after their early closure (4 hours before the schedule). Since nobody was around that evening and the next morning the bathrooms were not maintained and supplies were not replenished either. Bad decision on the marina managements part.
Marina Response:
I apologize that you did not enjoy your recent experience with us. Just to clarify, we did not send you an email indicating we would be closing early the day PRIOR to your arrival. We did however, notified you the DAY OF your arrival when we received notification that there was a small craft advisory. We tried to accommodate your arrival by making arrangements for someone to assist you when you did arrive and I apologize if that was not sufficient. As our website and signage states, there are times when we adjust our hours based on weather and activity and we always communicate those adjustments to our boater’s as soon as possible. As for the restrooms, we do not have 24 hour bathroom attendants on staff, however, we do clean, sanitize and replenish the supplies several times throughout the day. Again, I apologize for your experience and I appreciate you taking the time to review our Marina.
