We had a great time. Loved the proximity to so many great restaurants and we loved the van tour of Acadia.

In 30 years of boating on the Maine coast I’d never overnighted in Bar Harbor. I’ve always gone to NE or SW Harbors when visiting Mt Desert. I won’t be back. No showers, pump out out of order, no services whatsoever. It’s not a friendly waterfront for transient boaters.

Jim was very nice to work with and thankfully they were able to fit us in on the dock with short notice. Super convenient to shops and restaurants in downtown Bar Harbor. Their floating docks are fairly exposed to wind and waves and aren’t all that rigid, so our boat (Sabre 48) was moving around a fair bit (even at night) even though we were solidly tied up. The docks, they’re a little splintery, too, but they had electricity and water and great access to downtown Bar Harbor. If you desire fancy new docks, this isn’t your marina. All things considered, including price, I feel that the docks are a reasonable value.

Harbormaster office is 6 stars. As we rounded porcupine island fog rolled in 1/4 mile visibility could barely see the superyacht 1/2 mile in front of us let alone the mooring field. Harbormaster had the great idea of sending us the gps coordinates of the center of the mooring field and we navigated to that by instruments. Only giving it 4 starts because this is a pretty rolly mooring naturally aside from the fishing boats. There is this swell that constantly comes in. Only in slack tide does it get steady an peaceful Great access to all the attractions in bar harbor

This is a great stop. The moorings are not far from the dinghy dock and town is right there. Jimmy and Chris from the Harbormaster's office are great with information to help. Many restaurants, shops nearby and then Acadia is a gem. Easy to access with bikes or the free shuttles.

It is what it is, a rolly, noisy mooring field with no access to showers or other amenities. However, the harbor master is super friendly & helpful, and you’re right in the center of action. Fun & adequate for visiting Bar Harbor & Acadia using the free Island Explorer bus.

Jimmy was fantastic. Met us when we came in and also responded after hours via text. Super helpful!

The Harbormaster’s staff greeted us via VHF on our approach and guided us to our mooring. The dinghy dock was very easy to access. It was an easy and enjoyable visit.

Friendly harbormaster, but mooring location near very busy channel (wakes) and mooring field full of lobster pots. Have never seen anything like it. As if recreational boaters being discouraged from visiting. Mooring fee highest in area. Take a bus to Bar Hbr from another Mt Desert hbr!

We sat on the outside of mooring field. The lobster boats are complete jerks. They rage past us at full wake and right after slow down. Not a calm place. Otherwise, the harbor folks are nice and helpful.

Great Harbor! We stayed there for four nights. The harbor master was very helpful getting into the mooring field and location the mooring ball. Town dinghy dock with downtown right at the dock. CAUTION! for the lobster pots in the mooring field. Recommended stop.

Great location and beautiful sunsets. Pump out and water is available at the dock and use of public restrooms. Several lobster pots in the mooring field so you need to be careful but more than offset by the wonderful location. Assistant Harbor Master Tim was helpful when we arrived.

Convenient location to downtown, harbormaster was very friendly & helpful, mooring was in good condition. Dinghy dock is located on the far side of the big stone parking pier, between the stone wall and the floating wood dock. Our inflatable was 1 of only 2 inflatables on the dinghy dock, the vast majority being skiffs for the crews of the lobster boats. Many with motor left up. Heads up for the chains attached to the ramp from the stone pier to the dock, at high tide it requires you to duck low to get under, or you can go around the end of the dock closest to shore and out past the Harbormaster/Police boat. Downtown was very busy and crowded.

Harbormaster Jimmy and the rest of his staff were very helpful as we arrived. What a good idea to place traffic cones visibly on the target dock space! We were able to enjoy Bar Harbor from a safe dockage.

Friendly staff (associated with the local police department). Very helpful and they keep the facility running smoothly. No real amenities other than clean power and dock water, but overall very positive experience

We were trying to get a mooring for the Fire Works and to celebrate our anniversary. Chris the Harbor Master and his team put an extra effort into helping us out even though it was a very busy time for him and all his crew. What a wonderful stay...
Thank you Chris,
You guys are what cruising Maine is all about.

The mooring ball was fine and the dockmaster was very nice to work with.
The negative was having lobster pots throughout the mooring field and have a lobster boat come within a few feet of our boat several times to drop his pots where they were actually hitting our swimdecks. That is dangerous and unacceptable! Fortunately, we were able to leave this morning but we were waked hard at 5 am by lobster boats. We know this is Maine and that's their industry, but it made for a very unwelcoming stay in Bar Harbor. We will not come back to Bar Harbor due to this.
