We have been very happy with AYB in the past. The location is amazing. James Taylor is a top professional who did his best for us with winter storage and a punch list We were, however, very disappointed with incomplete work items and a consequent two week delay in starting our cruise. When we finally were able to leave, we were treated in an extremely unfriendly and unprofessional manner by one of the senior executives.

the staff were all very friendly but bathrooms and the showers are so dirty. it is not a marina, it is a yard for boat maintenance.

Had a great stay for a few days. Assistance at the fuel dock and a pump out was great. Moved to a transient berth and again they couldn't have been any better. Bathroom was clean but busy. Plenty of shopping within walking distance. Great stop!

Easy access to fuel dock, transient slips and great for an early passage through Great Bridge, and then the Great Bridge Lock. Friendly help on the docks.

Stopped for fuel and two nights but had to leave due to power issue. Shore power would not deliver above 106v with booster. Edd was extremely helpful and accomodating but it just didnt work for us.

We arrived at the marina at noon and spent an hour circling outside the marina trying to contact the Dockmaster. It was a Saturday, so no one was in the office but the recording said a Dockmaster was on duty 24x7. We tried 3 different radios using both Channel 16 and their channel 68. Also tried calling and left a message on voicemail. Finally after 1:00 PM the Dockmaster answered the phone and said his phone had fallen in the water and he just got the replacement. He acted surprised when I said I had tried for an hour to contact him by radio, but offered no explanation.

Marina Response:

We apologize for the inconvenience. The dockmaster was correct to tell you the cell phone was deep six, dropped in the water. I spent three hours on Saturday at Verizon and Best Buy trying to find a replacement. The dockmaster was embarrassed that he did not respond to you timely and he had no explanation with the no radio response because he did not hear you hailing him on the various channels. Again, we apologize, and will be looking into our radio equipment. A big THANK YOU for staying the night with us. We truly appreciate your giving us the opportunity to be of service. Happy safe cruising to you and your crew!

Great staff. Super knowledgeable and friendly. Huge boatyard with all the services you might need. Bath/shower might benefit from an upgrade but not bad. Very close to restaurants, grocery, museum, etc.

Helpful dockhand got us tied up and later helped pull the boat ahead for fuel up. Fuel price was great at $1.75 with discount so we took on 700 gallons to top up the tanks. Also got a good recommendation from the dockhand for a nice restaurant within walking distance. Perfect one night stop for us.

Marina is popular because of convenient location next to Great Bridge but really could use some refreshing. Pier light next to us appeared to be held up by a shoestring. In 20 day trip from Annapolis to Beaufort, NC and back, AYB dockhand was only one we encountered who offered no help except to catch the lines. He seemed poorly trained. Just this captain’s perspective...maybe just a little off that day.

The positive aspects are easy on and off, good fuel prices, strong wifi, on site service dept and ship store, and well priced dockage and laundry. The negative aspects, the laundry room was filthy, water smells foul coming from shower, and during this time of social distancing due to the Covid 19 virus, the bathrooms look like long term customers have moved in with shampoo, used bars of soap, q-tips etc laying on most available shower space requiring others to touch/move items just to take one's own shower.

The staff at this marina are outstanding- efficient with docking help, fueling, pump out, etc. We had a minor mechanical problem and it was resolved in a couple hours because they have a talented subcontractor base that works to service AYB and their customers.

We ducked in here to avoid Hurricane Dorian and ended up contracting to leave the boat for an additional month. This working boat yard is terrific, professional, helpful, friendly and provides quality work.

Came to Atlantic Yacht Basin thinking we had a hull leak. Upon arrival, received great help with pump out and docking. Within the first hour, one of the main boat engineers came over and spent time on the boat in the engine room where we noticed water coming in. With additional checking, stated we did not have a hull leak and other things we needed to check. Very happy with the service and honesty.
