Staff was very pleasant, docks were good, bathrooms could use a little help. Courtesy vehicle is a real plus.

Frank, the dockmaster, was extremely helpful. Right there to assist with dock lines and fueling. He runs a tight ship. There is a marine store in walking distance and an excellent low key restaurant, Tortuga's, that has really tasty local seafood dishes.

The staff at Thunderbolt makes this marina a 5. They are attentive, helpful, and nice. They offer a 2-hour loaner car which is super helpful for provisioning. Uber/Lyft runs about $13-25+ tax/tip to downtown Savannah each way.
Docks are floating and in good condition. The shower/laundry building could use a facelift. It’s really showing its age. It’s a 3 star portion of the marina.
We enjoyed our stay and visiting the local area.

Good place for my dog to have easy access to grass, we never did get any doughnuts like so many others have said they got in their review though dang it!

We LOVE dogs - especially well behaved Owners! haha! So many of you travel with pets on board which means it's important to have an area they can enjoy off the boat - to stretch their legs and have a good sniff around. Donuts have not been available to our customers for quite some time, so reviews you may have been reading are definitely old. Much to the dismay of so many, the Krispy Kreme local bakery closed and the service is therefore no longer part of our operation. Our waistlines are better for it, but morale is lower!! Second time staying here. Great marina. Loved the side tie right on the long concrete bulkhead. So easy in/out and it's a very short walk to nice grassy area for pets. Floating docks in great condition with 7' tide. Dockmaster Greg was terrific, helping us get tied up in very windy conditions. Stayed two days. They have loaner car but we didn't need it. We use our onboard baths, so didn't check the bathhouse or laundry. Very clean and well maintained with friendly staff. Large gazebo style deck with comfy seating. At $2.25 it was very reasonable compared to Savannah's usual high rates. They have maintenance facilities on site if needed. 4 block walk to marine store. Highly recommend.

Everyone at Thunderbolt was helpful and kind. The dockhands were great! The service department was able to get us in and out of the water to have some prop work done in a timely fashion too. There are a couple of good restaurants within walking distance (less than .5 miles). Between the service work, dodging Tropical Storm Debby, and more service work, we were in and out of Thunderbolt for about three weeks. The only reason for 4 stars is because of the FEES to do ANYTHING! We spent thousands there, yet they insisted on charging us for a pump-out, for example.

We do of course charge for all our services, as we believe most service industries do. Pump-Out fees are clearly noted on our TMI Welcome sheet in the marina office. We do our best to ensure that all pricing is transparent so that there are no surprises. We do hope that since you have had really only good experiences here, not just with our dock crew, our service departments and the local restaurants, you might give us another chance to win you over for that extra star! Nice Marina but the power pedestals did not work so we were forced to run our generator. Apparently the previous yacht also had power problems.

Hello Fred B. Since I do not know when you were here, I cannot vouch for the reason that the pedestal(s) were down and I wonder if the Dockmaster gave any explanation? With so many afternoon summer storms, it is not unusual for us to lose power now and then, but since we have an inhouse electrical/facilities department, we do all we can to get systems back running as soon as resources/priorities allow. I am sorry that your experience here was not worthy of 5 stars, but please know that it would have been addressed as soon as we were able - and that sometimes the delay may be that it was a weekend for instance, but once we are made aware of a problem, it is always short-lived. About Thunderbolt Marina
Thunderbolt Marina is conveniently located just outside Savannah on the Wilmington River in Thunderbolt, Georgia, at Intracoastal Waterway Marker #35 (ICW Mile #583) N 32° 01.467' W 081° 02.783'. There are no height restrictions when approaching from Wassaw Sound.
We monitor VHF Ch. 16, and Ch. 11 is our working channel. If you need docking assistance, please call us at 912-210-0363 before you arrive. All bookings or reservation inquiries must be made through one of our booking app partners, Dockwa or Snag-a-Slip. You will receive the fastest response from our Dockmaster using one of these reservation apps. Please contact us directly to discuss reservation requests exceeding 5 days. There is a 30-foot-per-day minimum charge for transient dockage. Optional shore power hook-up is not included in the advertised daily rate.
Note that the current in the Wilmington River can be very swift at times. You are advised to make approaches with your bow into the current with fendering and all dock lines, inclusive of aft and fwd running spring lines, ready for the dock attendant on duty. Please comply with all marina staff docking instructions while approaching our facility, as we are very interested in you having an uneventful and stress-free docking experience.
Thunderbolt Marina is just a short distance from Historic Downtown Savannah and provides a tranquil setting with easy access to our repair facilities with haul-out capabilities via Travelift and Syncrolift. Beyond the 3,500 lineal feet of available floating dock space, the marina offers several amenities listed below, assuring a comfortable stay.
