Excellent! This is one of the best beautiful harbors on the Cape

It was fine. Onset is such a beautiful place! The price is a bit steep for a place with no showers available. There was only one bathroom stall available one day too. Bathroom across from pier was locked. This is crazy when there’s so many at the beach.
Marina Response:
Thank you and we apologize. Our facilities were built in 1987 and we are in the process of working update an adjoining facility for better accommodations! There two other facilities that are on Dockwa that offer additional amenities also if needed for options (Fuel, Restrooms, shower) should you pass through again. Point Independence Yacht Club and Safe Harbor Onset Bay, the launch service does pass through their mooring fields also if needed. Enjoy your Summer!

Great stay as usual. Responsive harbormaster staff, easy access with dinghy dock and everything is right there (beach, restaurants, shops etc.)

Nice spot, several options for cuisine ashore. Town has done a nice job with the park overlooking the town harbor. Fuel was reasonably priced at safe harbor marina $3.50 gal for diesel.
Harbor master was helpful locating the mooring, our first visit to Onset. We’ll be back.

Nice little town with many good restaurants. Great launch service

Sheltered from a storm with 50 knot winds from the east, backing to the north on one of the moorings. Saw 38 knots on my masthead instruments. But the water in the harbor was flat and we were quite comfortable.
Didn't go ashore because it poured the entire time we were there.

We love visiting Onset as part of our yearly New England sail from the Hamptons. We stay for a few days on our way to Boston and points north. The marina is great, with a very accommodating staff. The Harbor Master is warm and helpful and thoroughly top-notch—he always comes out and guides us to our mooring. It is also very conveniently located—you can walk right to the beach for the day or into town for meals. Onset is such an authentic town—great restaurants and shops. Particularly, a gallery of artists who sell such lovely crafts, paintings, and jewelry. On this last stay, there was a wonderful concert up in the park.
The marina moorings are plenty spread out and private. We only wish the launch ran a bit later. Perhaps until 7:00pm, rather than 5:30pm. We hadn’t discovered Onset for years into our 5-week long sailing trips. But when we did, we felt so lucky. Because not only is Onset a lovely, charming spot to add to your cruise, it is literally a safe refuge. In the past, heading south through the canal toward Hadley Harbor, we have encountered strong SW winds going against the current (we have gotten caught in this harrowing circumstance more than once). We now know that we can always tuck into Onset for a night or two, until the conditions subside, so Onset’s great location adds a lot of solace to our cruise. We can’t wait for this summer when we visit Onset again!! Thank You!

The harbormaster & staff are professional and helpful, mooring cost is reasonable, and the harbor offers good protection. No showers. Ample opportunities for swimming off beach or boat. Town is a bit run down, but it has several restaurants (favorite is Quahog Republic), a good hardware store, and a laundromat.

Peaceful and beautiful is all we can say. Thank you for 2 lovely nights … just wish the launch ran later than 8-8:30PM…especially on weekends.

Much closer to the west end of the canal than we thought and easy access. The mooring field map is the best I’ve ever seen. Launch service was prompt and friendly. I wish they ran later than 7:30 pm. Amenities are limited but we were just there overnight.

Very protected harbor with reasonable rates. Onset is a sweet town for a long walk and a selection of restaurants.Harbor staff were friendly and available. One star off for lack of shower facilities and tight space for tying up a dinghy.
