Lake Tashmoo is very quiet and peaceful but keep these things in mind. It's a 30 minute walk into Vineyard Haven, there's no launch service, and the porta potty had been removed a week after Labor Day,

Thank you very much for the excellent spot behind the breakwater at the last minute. It was a very comfortable and convenient place to be. We really appreciated the bonus of the Harbormaster Crew coming out to make sure our mooring was clear and guiding us to it. We hope to be back before the end of the season and early next year. The Harbormaster is friendly and helpful. He does his best to be flexible and accommodating. We were grateful that he found a way to let us stay on our mooring an extra day when the weather turned out to be worse than we expected. Much appreciated!

Allocated a buoy so far out I should have anchored instead. However, I thought it would at least come with a launch and shore side facilities. Much to my disappointment there was no free launch (pay $5 per person each way) and the showers were in a very poor state so we showered on board.

Five stars for staff and location. One of two showers was out of service for the week, perhaps that’s why the one in use could have been cleaned more often. Thanks for a great stay!

Harbor master was friendly and helpful. The mooring is in excellent condition and we love the location. Our only problem was a boat on the assigned mooring when we arrived, they had a flock of children in the water so they were not going to move. They were day-trippers taking advantage. The harbor master relocated us, but there may be too many local boaters grabbing the moorings for this to be a reliable stop over.

We stayed in Lake Tashmoo. Very relaxing and quiet (except for the ospreys). Services at this location are minimal, but there is a dinghy dock and water. Town was about a mile walk each way (with sidewalk). We also "beached" the dinghy at the southern end by Tashmoo Springs and took a short walk to the Black Dog Bakery Cafe (yum).

When I reserved four weeks in advance, I was put on a waitlist. A week before traveling the Harbormaster could not understand why it was waitlisted. Other than that. A great experience, friendly and attentive dock hands. Will definitely do again.

I love to go into Lake Tashmoo and was so disappointed when anchoring was discontinued there. Last year the Town put out 4 moorings and now there are 12 to reserve. That is wonderful and so glad we can continue to go into such a quiet and nice pond.

Inner harbor can be super tight between moorings but nice and protected from most prevailing winds and compared to outside is pretty completely sheltered. In 2026, dock and dinghy docks were brand new. There are 2 restrooms (repaired/refreshed while we were there) open during the day and 2 showers with a combo, old but large and with hot water. The location is super convenient to shopping, groceries, ferry, and the free MV bus system. There's a free pumpout and water at the dock and we really appreciated the pumpout boat service, the harbormaster will come to your boat for free, very quick response! The ferry horns are loud but you get used to them and the many classic boats in the harbor are beautiful. The harbormaster staff are friendly and helpful. Harbormaster Morgan was really great! We look forward to returning next season.

The Waterways of Tisbury
Tisbury offers three distinct waterways: - Vineyard Haven Inner & Outer Harbor – bustling heart of town - Lake Tashmoo – peaceful, 270-acre coastal pond. Access via a marked channel with a controlling depth of approximately 5 feet at mean low water. - Lagoon Pond – scenic inlet from the drawbridge stretching inland
Tip: Include your preferred location in your reservation request. We default to Inner Harbor if none is specified.
