I love to go into Lake Tashmoo and was so disappointed when anchoring was discontinued there. Last year the Town put out 4 moorings and now there are 12 to reserve. That is wonderful and so glad we can continue to go into such a quiet and nice pond.

Inner harbor can be super tight between moorings but nice and protected from most prevailing winds and compared to outside is pretty completely sheltered. In 2026, dock and dinghy docks were brand new. There are 2 restrooms (repaired/refreshed while we were there) open during the day and 2 showers with a combo, old but large and with hot water. The location is super convenient to shopping, groceries, ferry, and the free MV bus system. There's a free pumpout and water at the dock and we really appreciated the pumpout boat service, the harbormaster will come to your boat for free, very quick response! The ferry horns are loud but you get used to them and the many classic boats in the harbor are beautiful. The harbormaster staff are friendly and helpful. Harbormaster Morgan was really great! We look forward to returning next season.

We spent a week on a mooring, very sheltered from winds, bathrooms fairly clean except on weekends, lots of dogs, little space on dinghy dock. Close to town and bus routes. We enjoyed our stay.

Staff friendly and helpful. Inner mooring field is next to ferry dock. You may get used to horn and rocking. Showers get no stars. Restrooms get one. Cute town w/ groceries.

This is a great spot on the town dock. Easy access to town, toilet facilities (no showers), accommodating staff, no power on the dock, but there is water, and it's just a limited number of slips. This location is a great value if it is available.

Vineyard Haven’s recent switch to Dockwa instead of first come/first served for the Tisbury town mooring field is a huge convenience! And what a great harbor filled with classic wooden boats and schooners.

We moored in the outer harbor: Great space on the moorings to swing. A bit rolly at times. You will get rocked by the ferries, even though you are well away from the channel. Great Stop and Shop grocery on shore for provisioning. Love the variety of boats in this area! Would stay here again.

Notwithstanding how horrible any strong wind with any north in it makes even the inside, This is a place that doesn’t appear to want visiting yachts. The launch wasn’t running (weather), and there is no way to tie up to the float at the dinghy dock. Spent two miserable days

The Waterways of Tisbury

Tisbury offers three distinct waterways: - Vineyard Haven Inner & Outer Harbor – bustling heart of town - Lake Tashmoo – peaceful, 270-acre coastal pond. Access via a marked channel with a controlling depth of approximately 5 feet at mean low water. - Lagoon Pond – scenic inlet from the drawbridge stretching inland

Tip: Include your preferred location in your reservation request. We default to Inner Harbor if none is specified.
