Shipyard Island Marina

For almost 20 years, we were under the misapprehension that we could not get our Catalina 445 into this marina. I communicated with Andy on approach and we had 2 wonderful nights at dock and a great meal at Sailor’s Pub! Everyone was so engaging and knowledgeable. The bathrooms were new and clean as were the showers! I had a chance to pick Andy’s brain on boat electronics and had a lovely Swedish cake at the Pub. A complimentary car was available to us. We cruised to Jacksonport and sat outside listening to music, watching the water, and eating Cubano sandwiches. Wonderful! For those with sailing vessels: We draw 5’10”. No problems as long as you enter lining up the red bouys and keep them tight to your starboard until you get to the green/red entrance. We will be there early next summer! Very good overall. Could use clothes hooks by the shower. Toilet had an internal water saving tank and as a result had a very weak flush. facility was clean and well maintained. Courtesy car was a real asset.

Really enjoyed our stay. Clean and modern bathrooms, staff was very helpful. On site restaurant is a real bonus. We’ll be back!

Andy the harbor master was great and Danette at Sailor’s Pub is a awesome bartender.

Nice stay overall, with a great view…but you need know the type of marina you are booking a slip with, this is a working marina and their focus on their service/repair department, not so much for their slips/transient guests. The docks were adequate, electric and water at each slip, we did not use them, but the bathroom and showers were clean. They do not provide anything beyond this though, if you need anything, you need to walk into the shop and grab a mechanic. They advertise selling ice, but they do not. You really need to prep a head of time before coming in. We had a dingy, so we were able to run across to the town, for ice and supplies, if not you would need to figure out transportation, as its way too far to walk. I will also add (though not affiliated with the marina) the Sailors Pub provided a wonderful meal!

The setting was beautiful however there was no marina assistance during our stay.The only communication was through text . We lost power the evening we were there and never got it back up to our departure. The restaurant near us was super good!

We have been visiting this marina for 25 years. Wonderful family owned operation. Quiet with fantastic sunsets. Extremely friendly seasonal boaters. Sailors Pub adjacent to marina is not to be missed.
