If you are looking for a quaint, picturesque and out of the hustle and bustle of the Chesapeake marina, this is the place. As full time cruisers that travel up and down the eastern seaboard, we have stopped at many places along the way.

Lankford Bay is a hidden gem for those that want to get away to the countryside for a little while. The marina has most everything you would want. The grounds are very nice with a pool that has a great view of the river. Unfortunately since we were here at the end of October we could not take advantage of the pool but we did go for some long walks.

The first thing that caught our eye was that almost every slip appears to have full or 3/4 length finger piers. We always find this a big convenience because we can bow in and still have easy on and off our sailnoat.

The second is the well stocked marine ships store. There is almost everything you might need for boat maintenance on the shelves from miscellaneous hardware to cleaning products to most everything you would need to do boat maintenance. We had to do s9me work on our boat and I was able to fnd everything I needed right there at fairly reasonable prices. This was good because although there is a West Marine and Ace Hardware in town, they are about 5 miles away.

There seems to be a nice community of boaters here although its late in the season so its very quiet. Its probably a very nice place to meet people and relax during the peak summer months.

There is a separate building with a bath house and affordable laundry. Each bathroom has a few individual showers. Its always. Ice when the shower comes with a spacious changing area and some even have their own sinks. The bathrooms are somewhat dated, but they are clean and the water was hot.

..this is an edit to my original review. There was a miscommunication from my original contact with the marina. The owner, Keith went out of his way to make it right. I got a ride over from a friend to look at the marina and meet the owners. We then decided to move our boat here for several days to get some work done before heading south

Marina Response:
Wow, we are definitely having trouble out of the blocks on Sailingpearl, your query about bottom paint occurred at a turnover in our staff schedule and I dropped the ball, misplacing your contact. I apologize for that. As to your question, the $10/ft special price on our website is for paint labor only. Materials are extra (choice of paint & paint kit which is $50), as is haul, wash, block, and relaunch ($17/ft). All told round trip cost for bottom painting a boat that comes to us in the water is $27/ft + materials. Greater than usual bottom prep (sanding, scraping) is an hourly at $78. I have updated the web site to contain these details. In order to compensate you for your bad initial experience I would offer the haul, wash, relaunch to you at our quick wash price of $7.50/ft bringing the total per foot charge for bottom painting your boat to $17.50/ft plus materials. Again, I sincerely apologize for the miscommunication hope you will allow us to make amends. Also while your at it you might check us out at Active Captain or on our Facebook page. We do a fair amount of transient business (yacht clubs, etc.) during the season in addition to full service work and permanent residents. Our exposure to potential negative feedback can be high and you will not find that to be the norm among customers that reviewed us there. If you desire you can contact me directly. Best Regards, Keith [email protected]

This marina is disappointing. It has had new owners for a year now (as of Aug 2018), and it needs a great deal of attention. The docks are old and rickety, some benches are made of old aging wood and supports have rusted out, and the bathrooms are very outdated, with one of two in the ladies room without a shower head. We will not return.

Marina Response:
We are very sorry to hear of your experience but appreciate the feedback. We wholeheartedly regret that we missed that mark with your stay and are happy to discuss any concerns or suggestions. As new owners, we take our customers' comfort and feedback seriously. We are making various marina improvements, some of which are not always directly visible to people. Please feel free to contact me, Keith, at 410-778-1414 or email is [email protected] Hopefully in the future, you'll be able to give the marina another chance. Thank you again for your input.
