Not much to do and hard to get anywhere. But very quiet and protected. Very close to a Lock, which allows you to get an early start and time your presence at the Lock so you don’t have to sit out and wait . Free washer and one dollar laundry. Really nice folks who will greet you any time.

The warmest welcome of any Marina we have visited. Bay Springs Marina staff and members of the Marina could not have been nicer. Put us on the face dock, water was available even though they had winterized for the season, laundry, restroom and shower all wonderful. They even invited us to their Christmas Party which was an absolute Joy. So many Santa Clause, Christmas Trees and decorated boats. You can tell these people enjoy each other’s company and share their joy with others. Thank you Bay Springs. We will see you on the flip side.

Peaceful, quiet, basic boating amenities you need while cruising down the Tenn-Tom. Clean showers, bathrooms, free washer and $1 dryer. Bay Springs Lake is awesome to cruise around and anchor in countless remote coves.

Very clean and neat facility, staff very pleasant and helpful. No less than 15' total water and the lake is down about 5'. Did not use restrooms, but did use courtesy car - went to Tacos vs Pizza restaurant in Tupelo about 40 minutes away - best tacos and pizza ever!

A boater's guide to Bay Springs Marina

Tucked away in a secluded cove off of Bay Springs Lake, Bay Springs Marina offers all the necessities a boater needs while cruising the Tenn-Tom River. Tie up to one of their transient docks and enjoy the views of the lake’s untouched shores or check off some boat chores while staging for easy access to travel down the Whitten Lock.

Approach and dockage

Bay Springs Marina is located about a mile up the last cove on your starboard side right before approaching the Jamie Whitten Lock (mile marker 412) on the Tenn-Tom River (if you are headed south down the river). There is plenty of depth as you turn off the river and head up the cove to the marina. The marina will be on your port side and you will see “No Wake” markers about a quarter mile from the marina.

The fuel dock, marked by the tall BP sign will appear after you pass the first covered dock on your port side. You can reach the dockmaster on VHF Channel 16 or by phone at 662-728-2449 8 AM to 5 PM 7 days a week (closed on Sundays during the winter). Once at your slip, pick up your bathroom key in the marina office located at the large blue marine repair shop.

The 5 docks are labeled A-B, C-D, E-F, G-H, I-J. Docks A-B (which were not in use at the time of writing) are located farthest into the cove, near the repair shop, and then go in order with Docks I-J the farthest east (and the first you would see coming into the marina). They tend to put transients on the T-heads of the docks, but be sure to confirm where your slip is with the dockmaster.

Bay Springs Marina amenities

Bathrooms/showers:

Located in the blue building in the parking lot on top of the small hill. They are a little bit of a walk from the docks and require a keyfob to enter. Two bathroom stalls and one shower (with great water pressure) are in each of the men’s and women’s bathrooms.

Laundry:

In the same building as the bathrooms/showers. One washing machine and one dryer. Washing machine is free and the dryer is $1.00 (quarters). There’s a table located in the room for folding clothes.

Courtesy car:

Available for transients to use. However, be prepared to drive at least 25-30 minutes to the nearest grocery store.

Propane:

Bay Springs can fill your propane tank right on site, saving you a trip to town if that’s on your list of boat chores.

Pump-Out/fuel:

Friendly dockhands are there to assist you on the fuel dock with gas, diesel, and pump-out needs.

Marine service:

If you need any work done on your boat, Bay Springs has a full service boat repair shop able to help with electrical, winterizing, rigging, mechanical, prop repair, and more. They also have a 50 ton lift on site.

Ship store:

Has the basic supplies you need for every-day boating (oil, boat cleaner, fuel diapers, etc).

Pet-friendly grounds:

Plenty of grass to walk any pets on board looking to spend some time on land.

Proximity to attractions by land

West Damsite Picnic Area (1 mile away)

Bay Springs is a half mile off of County Road 3501, which is not very pedestrian friendly. However, the West Damsite Picnic Area is about a mile down a quiet road, providing a perfect opportunity for a walk or run to stretch your legs after a long cruise. Start walking down the road away from the marina and make a left just before you hit the county road and you’ll come to the picnic area. The picnic area also has several BBQs and picnic tables as well as restrooms, a park, and small beach if looking to spend some time outside off of marina grounds.

Old Bridge Beach (2 miles away)

Nice park with a beach and swimming area only a six minute drive from the Bay Springs Marina.

Elvis Presley’s Birthplace (38 miles away)

If you’re a fan of the King of Rock and Roll, take the courtesy car and head to Tupelo, Mississippi to tour Elvis Presley’s first home. Learn about his early years, family life, and tour his birthplace house, the church his family attended, and museum on site. Just make sure to give yourself plenty of time as it’s about a 40 minute drive from the marina.

Proximity to attractions by water

Bay Springs Lake anchorages

Bay Springs Lake is a reservoir on the Tenn-Tom river. The land around the lake is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers, which means it is also undeveloped so you have the opportunity to cruise along shores lined with beautiful trees, sand and rocks. It also means there are tons of remote coves to tuck into for an afternoon or night. Favorites include any of the coves along the “Five Fingers” or Two Fingers (Upper Fork anchorage on Active Captain). If looking to wait for the Whitten Lock, there are anchorage options in the last cove on your portside before the lock.

Jamie Whitten Lock

For some boaters, locks may not be an attraction. But for boaters who enjoy riding up and down these massive infrastructure marvels or if you have guests on board who want to experience another side of cruising, Whitten Lock is just a mile away from Bay Springs Marina, providing access to miles of cruising along the scenic Tenn-Tom River.
