The free launch took us into town, where there are several great places to eat. We visited the Audubon Educational Center, an interesting stop (you can walk along a repurposed train track path from Bristol to Warren and much farther.)
The people on the launches are good at what they do. In addition, they are personable, and very knowledgeable of the town's restaurants and sights. Please, add another shower. Overall 4 stars for the showers, and 5 stars for the drivers.
I have used Bristol Marine for reapir work, winter storage and summer mooring. They have delivered excellent service for the last four years. My boat was a Little Harbor 54 which needed a fair amount of work over the years and all of it was done professionally and at a fair price, much cheaper than some of the other yards in the area. The most recent job was a lower rudder bearing replacement, a big job on this boat which required extensive experience, and they did a great job. Over the years they have made a few mistakes, and every time they over-compensated to the point that I was better off in the end. I have been at other yards where I have paid for the mistake, and then paid to get it right. That does not happen here. I store indoors and winter storage has been well managed and the boat was safe and access for me was good. Plenty of technical support when I needed it. The harbor can get a little rough when the southerly ocean breeze comes up the bay so it is comforting to see the over-built mooring systems they use. Launch service has always been responsive. Bristol Marine has two yards, Bristol and Summerville. And between the two yards they can do most any overhaul or repair work. After years being there, I know Andy, the owner and manager, and Patrick, the yard manager very well and can attest to their fairness and honesty.
Great launch service , very accommodating. Bristol is a great stop and Bristol Marine makes it easy. Thank ypu
We had a beautiful sail to Bristol from Newport. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Mike the launch driver. The mooring area is peaceful and quiet but the launch brought us across the harbor where we enjoyed the quaint downtown for dinner and drinks. As promised he came back to get us as scheduled. The best part of our stay was the water was the warmest of our trip and our kids seam for hours.
Tucked up all the way in Bristol harbor, you couldn't ask for a better place for a mooring. Very quiet aand picturesque.
The launch service is friendly, convenient, and reliable.
After striking rock just north of the docks, we were taking on a small amount of water. Bristol Marine was notified and immediately provided a haul out for our Corbin '39 with the next available tide.
They provided a structual inspection, and full repair of the hull damage. The staff did an excellent job of keeping me informed of the progress and coordinating payment with our insurance company. A job very well done and would highly recommend using this yard.
Kept our boat here for 5 years.... a well run full service yard with very good customer care. Moorings are well maintained and launch service is excellent. Highly recommend
quaint family run marina with a wonderful approach upriver..bathrooms were clean but a little narrow...dinghy or launch into town..
One of the best experiences we have had with a full service marina. The yard manager and his crew were the best. They really understand what customer service is all about. The parts manager went out of his way to research and promptly deliver the parts we needed. The canvas folks made an incredible awning for us. Quality all the way. The launch driver was extremely helpful. We also had to go back to seek shelter from Hurricane Sandy; they took good care of us, and the boat. This will be our annual stop for maintenance and repairs.
Spent two nights here at $35/night. Very clean restrooms and showers. Very friendly, helpful people. Jill went out of her way to offer tips on where to go, etc. Didn't use the launch service but it is readily available. Boatyard is very busy and a professional looking operation.
One glitch - not Bristol Marine's fault - the pump out station in town was out of order. The marina's pump out boat was full and couldn't pump us out. The harbormaster's pump out boat was empty, supposedly, but didn't want to do pump outs with no where to offload. Narraganset Bay is, of course, a no discharge zone. Made it a rather tense couple of days, to say the least!
Otherwise, the town is pretty and laid back. Dinghy dock at Independence Park has a two hour limit but no one seems to mind if you stay a little longer. Walk up and over a block to the Beehive Restaurant for a delicious breakfast.
Don't mistake this for a fancy marina--it's a working boatyard with a small number of in-the-water slips plus moorings and launch service--an excellent place to have repairs made. We were impressed with the neatness of the yard and the high quality of the work being done on boats here at the docks and on the hard and with the friendly, can-do approach. Highly recommended.
