I was not assigned a mooring, and going through the channel at low tide was very challenging. We hit bottom with a draft of 4 1/2 feet in the middle of the channel.
Marina Response:
Hello Mervyn, We were sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay. Your mooring assignment was sent to you in the original email that was emailed to you on Sept. 1st, several days before your arrival. We send this email to all transients as it has ample and valuable information regarding your stay and the facility. Did you hit ground while entering by Sandy Point in Stonington, CT. That is a federally maintained channel. Your review brings to our attention that we need to include more information about the approach into the river. I hope you didn't have any depth problems in our mooring field. Below you will see the email: Mervyn, I have a few attachments for you to review before you arrive for your transient mooring on Sunday, September 3rd. . First is a dock and mooring chart. You will be on mooring # 1 . Our dinghy dock is located between our B and C Docks. We also leave a 60' T section on our B Dock open for our mooring customers to use for power, water, loading, offloading, etc. The next attachment is our hydrosurvey. This shows the low tide depths surrounding our facility. Please take a moment to review it. We do have channel markers marking your approach in and out of our mooring field and into B Dock T head dock section. Please honor them. Please note that check in time is after 1:00 pm and check out time is before 11:00 am. Please contact us before arriving if your arrival or departure times may differ. We do offer wifi here for our customers. You will need the password when signing on to "WHBY GUEST" wifi. The password is: WHBY2323. We have several access points for this wifi network. They are all named WHBY Guest but please note you may need to sign in (same password) in a few different locations around the yard. Our building remains open during business hours (8- 4:30 pm). It is locked but accessible to our customers with a key access code. This way you have access to the bathrooms/ showers. The code is:2323. We also make and sell ice here. We work on the honor system, asking our customers to leave $3/ bag in a green podium next to the ice freezer (in the area under the office building). Please feel free to contact me with any questions about your stay. We had a great 3 days stay at WHBY. Very friendly and helpful staff, spotless restrooms and showers, terrific facilities including gas grill, picnic tables, lounging chairs . We will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Marina and setting. Office staff are great and even called me ahead of time to discuss the slip which was a bit tricky just to make sure I was good with it. Very clean nice bathrooms and beautiful grill spot etc. we will definitely be back if they let us ! Uber is a bit difficult to get in that area just FYI about a mile down to Watch Hill center.

Gorgeous location, beautiful boathouse with great facilities. Staff is friendly and available. Showers are large and pristine clean. Read the charts and tides carefully, the approach is extremely shallow at some points!

Our stay at WHBY was excellent. It was the first time my wife and I stayed overnight at a marina, the first time using Dockwa and a sea trial of our “new to us” express cruiser. Laura at WHBY was an excellent host, providing us great instructions for our after hours arrival. The facilities are top notch and the marina allows easy access to Watch Hill. I highly recommend to Watch Hill Boat Yard.

Very pleasant. Good comunication from them about facilities and mooring location. Lisa was great to deal with. Nice spot where you are far enough away from river traffic to enjoy watching it, but not so close as to be bothered by it.

We enjoyed our two nights on a mooring. The communication ahead of time with a depth chart and channel instructions were helpful. The facility ashore is superb- very clean and new. The staff were super nice. Although we could have walked to Watch Hill, we used our dinghy for the short ride by water. Lunch at the Ocean House and an afternoon on Napatree Beach were divine!

Beautiful marina! 20 minute walk to the Watch Hill village. Kind staff. We had a problem with our motor and they helped us through it... bathrooms and showers were very new and immaculate. Excellent, quiet stay

Watch Hill’s best kept secret. Wonderful, cozy place, nested in a tranquil cove. Spotless facilities, friendly staff. Thanks for the experience!

Beautiful location, great facility and staff! And an easy walk into town. Take extra care rounding R "20"at Pawcatuck Pt.

Challenging approach. Well worth the effort. Great people and very nice short side facilities

I was a little concerned that the wash from the Pawcatuck River would make for an uncomfortable stay. I was very wrong. We had a quiet night and the cove was extremely peaceful. Our reservation was made at the last minute, but upon our arrival the staff was ready for us. It was a wonderful alternative to Watch Hill Harbor.

This marina is beautiful, lots of wildlife around and everyone very friendly. The staff are friendly and Watch Hill is only 1 mile walk as well as the Cooked Goose restaurant for wonderful breakfasts. The marina was a bit of a challenge to find and on weekends they are not fully staffed so plan ahead and know where you are going. The numbers of slips are not visible by the water so you have to count the pilings and the docks are fixed as well as floating so it is not a guarantee that you will get a floating dock, be prepared for extra lines. I think docks all have ladders on "C" except 15 C so if you come at low tide...it can be challenging. Red nun 3 is aligned with channel markers but I used red 4 and then cut in to the first channel marker.

Got a mooring here in a peaceful cove surrounded by wetlands. There is no launch service, but WHBY will provide you with your own rowboat! Walk to town is about 25 minutes each way. Very nice new clubhouse, picnic areas, indoor & outdoor shower options.

the place was awesome and very helpful, cant wait to get back

Lisa and the team at WHBY sent me a confirmation email and another with two attachments, one showing the location of the channel and navigation hazards and another with a map of the mooring field. Very helpful! Their transient moorings are adjacent to the channel into the marina so that means some wave action and noise. Otherwise, the location is beautiful with views to the west of Watch Hill and undeveloped land across the Pawcatuck river.
