Besides a minor snafu with our mooring assignment, the staff were most accommodating. Both Aidan and Jack do a great job Will plan on returning.

Great place to take a mooring. Nice staff and a good yacht club. Only challenge was that for the first time in 5 visits, I was assigned a mooring across the river from the club. Did not know that they have two separate areas. They swapped me to one in front of

The mooring was just off the YC dock. The tender operator was very friendly. As we approached, we saw two lobster pots next to our mooring. We were told that it shouldn’t be a problem. The lobster pots floated under our boat many times.when we departed they were under water. Fortunately, got off ok. Current is super strong and boats fly by, not a relaxing stop. We walked to town 2 and 1/2 miles. Nice town, busy road. Uber back.

Updated review: stated 5 days while we took care of some land based chores. Great place to stay with the Stewards doing everything they could to make us feel welcome. It’s a great YC and the members made us feel welcome.
Older reviews:
Overall excellent stay while we waited for Hurricane Erin to pass by. Wendy was the perfect host. The dockhands were always helpful. Diesel prices were reasonable too. Update after new stay. We we picked up mooring 1716 off the club main dock. The proximity to the clubhouse facilities is nice. Other than that, it is wake city from dawn till dusk. If you stay on the boat I would recommend you ask for a mooring in the cove. The staff is very nice and accommodating. It’s a 20 minute walk Strawberry Bank taking care in areas with no sidewalks. Very nice stay in PYC’s mooring field in Pepperill cove. It was a little rolly early morning with the fishing boats headed out but other than that not complaints. Great launch drivers and clean facilities. Did not buy fuel but did note pricing for gas and diesel seemed the going rate. Headed to Chauncey Creek for seafood while visiting. Prices seemed high and the quality was a little lower than expected. Gritty muscles and a tourist lobster. The captain from Maine was not impressed. Newark’s seafood was much better!

👍. You make this process less likely to happen if you demand more time.

Our stay at Portsmouth yacht club was very pleasant. The dockmaster, Russ, and the dockhands were very helpful upon our arrival and the mooring was easy to find and with a good pennant. We enjoyed the showers at the club and the scenic walk back and forth to downtown Portsmouth.

Lovely place and easy to get to. The launch driver, Hobie, was dedicated and enjoyable to talk to. The facility was great. My only suggestion would be to ask the person that owns the Colgate 26 by mooring 494 to secure their halyard so it doesn't clang all night long.

Very pleasant. Launch driver Hobey was friendly and accomodating. Great that we could get to great restaurant via the launch.

Our thanks to Russ for making us feel very welcome and for his help! The facilities were in good shape and much appreciated. We enjoyed PYC 499’s location and found that most of the other boaters obeyed the no wake zone well. One note for first time users: approach the dinghy dock with care at low tide! Thank you PYC!

As we are getting close to our summer of going up the Whole Est Coast we are finding niche Marinas that go out of their way to help you out. Russ, Jaden, Wendy and all the other Employees we feel went way above and beyond to make our stay here very memorable. we walked all around New Castle a beautiful and very old are of America. we have a dog that took a run thru the Yacht Clubs Wine tasting and climbed the dock and grabbed him in the Dining room. everyone laughed and no damage done. A Great Story. Russ would always ask us us if we need anything, make recommendations for meals or go sight see. Wendy met us as the owner of Stetson (our Dog) and we become friends.
This is a truly great place, with Great Employees in a Great area.

Rocked and rolled all night
Unprotected cove from swells and passing boats.
Marina Response:
Jay, Unfortunately you visited when there was a southernly swell that is when Pepperrell Cove is exposed.

Nice place but it is a long way to the clubhouse and the launch only runs until 8. Pepperrell cove is nice but wide open to winds from the S

This little gem sits on the Piscataqua River right around the bend from the main channel on New Castle Island. The club is a nice building with a lovely porch and a nice sized main area which serves as a dining room and gathering room. The bathrooms and showers are clean and comfortable. The dock staff is wonderful! They operate a launch which will take you to shore or across the river to Pepperrell Cove. Russ and his staff are top notch! The only negative is the rolly waters due to the wakes from passing boats. This completely calms down at night, but be prepared to wake up early as the fisherman are early risers.

Russ and his team could not have been more friendly and professional. We requested mooring close to YC for easy access with our bikes. Russ did warn us that with currents & wind it can be rolling. It was but we were fine, obviously keel boats would have less issues. The launch service is so efficient Pepperrell Cove would be quieter and closer to excellent restaurant there. Just loved whole area. Again THANK YOU.

Marina looked nice enough but the wake from the fisherman was horrible.

PYC was fantastic, especially their dock master Russ. We booked a transient mooring to duck out of a wind storm which was technically out of their season but they were more than willing to accommodate. Hope to be back next year on our way south again.

Club staff was incredibly helpful and gracious. On an outside mooring, so admittedly a little rolly with boat traffic, but no more than expected.

Great to work with Russ. Knows lots of history and took us in launch to a restaurant across the water

Russ and Steve were excellent hosts. From the moment I booked the mooring on Dockwa at around 10 pm at night on a sail from Portland, ME to Boston, MA, their response was less a than 1 hours. Email with instructions was very helpful and the next day their tender service picked me up to transport me to their Yacth club. Very friendly staff. Convenient location for sailors and boaters and good mooring spots. I will definitely go back in the future.
