A boater's guide to Miami Beach

Miami Beach Marina is the perfect marina for boaters visiting or staying long term in the Magic City. Located adjacent to Government Cut, Miami Beach Marina makes it easy to access many of Miami’s water activities like fishing, sailing and intracoastal waterway cruising.

Looking to dock your boat and explore activities by land? Within walking distance of this marina is Miami’s famous Art Deco district and downtown South Beach.

Approach and dockage

Miami Beach Marina is located at the southern tip of South Beach. Accessing the marina is a breeze for any boat thanks to no fixed bridges and plenty of deep water. The marina can be accessible by water from the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, Biscayne Bay, Miami River and Florida Keys.

The marina’s professional dock assistants are available from 6AM to 9PM on channel 16 to help with docking at one of their 400 boat slips. There’s usually plenty of room since 90% of their slips are open to the public on a “first come, first served” basis.

Proximity to attractions by land

South Beach (1 mile)

The most famous part of Miami is South Beach, and lucky for you, you’re smack dab in the middle of it. This portion of Miami is famous for its sandy strands, swaying palm trees and pastel-colored Art Deco buildings. While the Beach itself is the main draw, there are hundreds of fantastic restaurants and shops along it’s perimeter.

South Point Beach (0.7 miles)

At the southernmost tip of South Beach is South Pointe Park. Walk the park’s beautifully maintained greenspace that has panoramic views of Fisher Island or sunbathe on the beach portion that overlooks the mighty Atlantic Ocean. Just be sure to stroll down the scenic South Pointe Pier at some point and watch all the boats cruise through Government Cut.

Wynwood Walls (5.8 miles)

Open to the public and free of charge, Wynwood Walls was established in 2009 as an outdoor museum of international street art. The open-air museum currently encompasses more than 40 stunning murals created by street artists from Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States.

Proximity to attractions by sea

Stiltsville (17 miles)

Located on a sandbank one mile off Cape Florida is Stiltsville. This town on stilts was constructed back in the 1930’s by the Florida elite who wanted an off-shore workaround to mainland alcohol and gambling laws. While there are fewer structures standing today than in its heyday, it's still a sight to be seen.

No Name Harbor (13 miles)

Located inside the beautiful Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, this natural harbor once was reserved just for herons, egrets, and other wildlife. Today, No Name Harbor is a popular spot for boaters who can anchor here for free and travel ashore to dine at local eateries.

Star Island (1 mile)

Located just north of the marina is the exclusive, man-made Star Island. It’s famous for its wealthy past and present residents like Shaqueille O’Neal, Sylvester Stallone, and Gloria Estefan. Cruise around this oval shaped island and maybe you’ll spot a celeb.
