Like the location. Having the boat there felt safe from storms and other damage. Generally nice facilities. However, H dock where our boat was kept is hard to access having to always go through the active maintenance yard. Car access is super inconvenient being that anytime you park your car near H dock or even walk through the yard they are asking you to move it. Really means only weekend access to your boat from the car. Having maintenance facilities on site would appear to be a benefit but they only allow work to be done by their crews which is not helpful for people who want to be involved in the work. Never really felt a connection with the marina staff there. They have lots of events but never seemed to click.

Thanks for the feedback and we are really sorry to hear about your experience at H-Dock. G and H dock are on the schedule to be renovated in 2024 based on the concerns that you have pointed out. That area has never been clearly defined in the past and is often overtaken by the Yacht Yard. After this season, that will not be an issue as we will establish clearly defined and hardscaped parking areas that will guarantee access and easy parking. The note about work only being permitted if it is done by Hartge Yacht Yard is incorrect. Outside contractors are permitted to work onsite if they are insured and signed in at the office. We appreciate your business and I do hope that you will return after this season and see the changes that we have scheduled for the area that you are referring too. It is a fully functioning marina. All types of repairs are possible. Bathroom and showers are clean. No place for dinner, you have to uber about 1.5 miles.

Thank you for the 5 star review. The peace and quiet comes at a cost, :) - We really appreciate your business and hope to see you around more. Thanks - Brad Wellsby Bernard D. - Verified user on Mar 31, 2024
I have been berthed in Hartge Yacht Harbor for over 15 years and it has continued to improve that whole time. The current owners are working to give the marina a real neighborhood feel by adding amenities such as pool memberships for slip holders, bikes, Saturday morning coffee klatches, and marina parties. They also have an excellent full-service yard for any maintenance you might require. I think they deserve the five star rating I gave them.
Marina Response:
Thank you so much. We really have been working hard to restore this beautiful marina. I wish that we could do it all at once but that would be a huge inconvenience for all of us and the slipholders. Really happy to hear that you are enjoying the improvements. Thanks Bernard - Brad Wellsby Carol T. - Verified user on Nov 29, 2023
G and H docks are still a mess. Looks like a rubbish dump. Impossible to park or walk in that area.
Marina Response:
Hi Carol and thank you for the feedback. We do apologize for the current inconvenience due to the addition of our new yacht center management group. We are working diligently to improve that situation at G and H dock and allow more space for parking and access. We do hope that you enjoyed the complimentary dinner party and all of the new additions and improvements that we have installed this season. Newly remodeled bathrooms, new outdoor entertainment areas, building exterior improvement, new washer and dryer units, new dock carts and much more. Please feel free to contact the marina office with any future issues thy you may have. Thank you for your patronage and we will do our best to expedite this process for you and others that are inconvenienced by this transition.by Dorian W. - Verified user on Nov 29, 2023
Hartge is like a museum for classic boats and our 1926 Motor Yacht fits right in here. They are very accommodating and easy to deal with.

Hartge claims to date from 1865. There is some confusion about whether the Hartge enterprise at this time is what we call a "marina" today, but the family was certainly in the boat building business at that time in the same area as the current marina. The marina passed into the ownership of anew family that owns a few other marinas and in the area and is fixing up many part that the original owners were reluctant to maintain. The also have boat maintenance done by a branch of the Hartge family and the boat maintenance is much better than before. The new management really cares and the place is now getting the upkeep it needs. While they don't have a pool, they have access to a pool nearby for boaters.
Marina Response:
Thank you so much for the great review! Hartge Yacht Harbor is absolutely a jewel on the Bay and the new ownership and management are working hard to restore it to its former glory. The Hartge family started their business of cabinetry and piano manufacturing in Galesville in 1865 after moving down from Baltimore and purchasing 400+ acres in the area. The Marina aspect of the operations really didn't get into full swing until the early 1900's, but the Hartge family business and harbor was established and operating in 1865. The new family that owns the marina can trace their roots in the area back to the 1630's and work very hard to preserve local historical sites and buildings. It has been exciting being able to restore this property and receive great reviews like yours that let us know we are doing the right thing.by John D. - Verified user on Apr 01, 2023
Brad, the harbormaster, has been extremely diligent in checking on our boat and adjusting things as needed.

Hartge Yacht Harbor is a splendid marina to keep your boat. However, do not call on this marina’s services the problem is not that they are good at anything but are bad at everything from my experience
- They do not understand Webasto heaters and say that units are unusually design
- They do not understand how to install Max props and in particular are confused with pitch value and the difference between left and right handed props.
- They do not know how to change a hose on a manual bilge pump.
- They do not know how to properly install sanitary hoses in a reasonable time.
- They do not know how to install seacocks
- They very seldom call back or answer emails
- They make appointments and forget clients are coming.
- They invoice for replacement parts they themselves have lost and invoice time taken to replace said parts.
- All of this is experienced with last service manager
- New service manager does not get confused with facts and bases his invoice without paying any attention to actual work completed successfully.

Thank you for the feedback. As of October 2022, Hartge Yacht Yard has been reorganized under new management. Alex Schlagel, Luke Frey, and their crew of master craftsmen and mechanics are now operating Hartge Yacht Yard onsite at Hartge Yacht Harbor. We can only hope that you can forgive us for any past issues that you may have had with the service department and consider HYY once again for any future service you may need.by Jeff D. - Verified user on Aug 12, 2019

Nice visit to a quiet marina in the quiet town of Galesville, Maryland. We were assigned a T-head location, which worked well because we had no dock hands to help tie us up. The ladies in the office were very friendly and helpful, including coming down to pump our our holding tank immediately before we departed.

We enjoyed our overnight stay. Staff is friendly and was helpful in getting us docked. We are looking forward to another visit.

This was a beautiful marina and the staff was very friendly. I received several e-mails from the Dockmaster in preparation for our arrival so that we were sure of where we would be docking and had all the information we needed about the marina and the local area. Docking was easy as the marina is fairly well protected in the creek. We wanted to go to Pirates Cove for dinner and it was a pleasant 15 minutes walk from the marina. We will definitely consider staying at this marina again.
