Exposed to wakes as is everything downtown, but very close to Bluff Art District and Aquarium. Restaurants close by.

Always a great stop in Chattanooga. Walking distance to several places to eat and things to do

Marina unmanned on Sunday and Monday, but Creed returned my call on Tuesday. Power was on so we were able to get set up and had a wonderful stay. Asked for and received AGLCA discount of 20%. Assigned to Olgiati Dock.

Excellent Stay as usual.

There are no showers; the city had not turned on the water at the docks. There was no hot water in the men's room. Lighting in women's room was intermittent. Paint peeling in both restrooms. Toilet paper dispenser in men's room was broken. Floor dirty in men's room. Equipment was stored in men's room. Dock was dirty and cluttered with junk. Standard 30 amp service was not provided at our dock and we had to rent an adapter for $ 50. The one bright spot was the manager (Creed) -- very courteous and helpful.

Seamless \"docking\" at the floating river docks near the Walnut St Bridge. Gate code made us feel safer about having the boat downtown. Being at water level for the Head of Hooch regatta was amazing. Great places to eat all within walking distance. Don't forget to walk the bridge to the NorthShore. Lots of fun shops and cafes, too.

The marina has one GREAT feature…location. We walked and biked thru downtown Chattanooga and beyond. The hike and bike trail next to the marina goes all the way toChickamauga Lock and Dam. And if felt very safe, with locking doors to the docks. The restrooms were basic and lacked showers, and there wasn’t much other ameneties. Staff was friendly.

This is a marina that I visit a few times a year if possible. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the downtown waterfront area is super nice (kid & dog friendly too) and food choices are abundant. Highly recommend a visit.

First, Chattanooga was great. Once we got there and got the proper dock space, it was nice other than the water was shut off. Lots of loopers stay their to enjoy the city AND re-supply (including water). They did get it back on, but an inconvenience and we cut our stay a day short due to it. We had others where their power went out. They did get it back on - but starting to see a pattern here. Our friends arrived a few days prior (4 boats total) and it took 3-4 hours to get everyone fueled and pumped out! When we arrived (Monday), there was no answer on VHF or phone. They did DockWa us codes and that we would be on the Bluff dock, but when we arrived, there was no space on Bluff dock and no one to talk to about it. Come to find out that Marina office is closed on Sunday & Monday. Also no restrooms on Bluff dock, and the ones at the marina office were about 1/4 mile away and not in good shape. Overall, it is centrally located right in the heart of Chattanooga, and we had a great time, but I have my reservations on management of the facility.

by Jeff J. - Verified user on Oct 27, 2022
Love the location but don't like losing our spot when we leave for the day...because we have a reservation. Would be nice if there was trash disposal.

We had a wonderful week stay at Erwin Marine Riverfront on the Olgiati Dock. Creed and his crew were very helpful upon arrival. We had multiple packages delivery without any problems. The gated docks are clean and safe. Chattanooga is a lovely city and Erwin docks are very convenient to all of the downtown area. We’ll be back!

Love being downtown Chattanooga, and locked gate access to floating docks is great! Some wakes from passing boats, mostly on weekends

Great marina right in downtown Chattanooga. Easy city to get around. Only drawback is lack of facilities at dock (showers, bathrooms, laundry). Love staying here. Will be back.

by David B. - Verified user on Jul 17, 2022
We love the bluff dock but... We really need the pump out working. We understand the lift issue but we also understand there are pumps rated for such lift also, finish the job please. We understand there are alternative pump outs at different locations but we would prefer to pump out at the dock we are at and we ask for you to consider that. Five stars easy if you will take care of the pump out.

by Debra H. - Verified user on Oct 15, 2021
Positives are convenient to downtown, good power pedestals, strong water pressure and great rates. Negatives are difficult to reach by phone so communicate through Dockwa, NO SECURITY due to homeless camped on embankment who have gotten ahold of Gate code and come and go on dock, WiFi not good.

Great location for the boat to enjoy downtown Chattanooga! Dog friendly too! Very clean marina. Nice and secure Too

Good Points: Price, location was excellent - right at downtown easy walk to events, arts, museums, restaurants. Security - gate code to enter the dock area. Not as good - Security: the gate codes may need to be changed more frequently as the homeless in the area came strolling through. The area does seem to be a haven for the homeless as well.

I must say this booking website is very user friendly and the information that I received from Jill at Erwin Marine, who was great, was very informative. When we arrived there were several open spots which was convenient. However, I realized I'd never obtained a gate code and started searching my emails to see if I'd missed something, with no luck. I simply called Erwin, which was closed by the time we arrived. I left a message on there recording and proceeded on to the hotel with our things. Although a bit unnerving at first, not knowing exactly how we were going to get back to the boat and the facility being closed, we received a call back from a gentleman with Erwin who provided us a gate code right away. The only downside to this stay and the reason for the 4 not 5 stars is not at the fault of the marina. Later that night we had to retrieve the rest of our items from the boat and in doing so, we were approached by another boat owner on the dock wanting us to help move another owner's jet ski or move our own boat from where we docked so that he could get a different spot per his preference. He tried to tell us that he paid for a specific spot which I didn't believe to be true due to my own experience. We would never move someone's vessel so we cordially declined to help him and also told him there was not enough room to move ours where he was insisting without over-lapping our dock lines with another customer with a much, much larger vessel, which we believed was not a good idea either. He began to ignore us and proceeded to move someone's jet ski to suit him. He was somewhat aggressive which was uncomfortable but fortunately, when we returned to check things, our property did not seem to have been tampered with. Above all, we would definitely book here again.

Facilities have been upgraded with new 50 amp boxes . Location perfect for downtown Chattanooga access. I would stay on the aquarium end of bluffview dock. It is quieter than the other side because of homeless population. Supplies are limited from Marina .

by Walter H. - Verified user on Jun 15, 2021
The Bluff Dock is likely best used during the week. We have been there on weekdays and weekends. On the weekends, we have fast boats that produce wakes that make out boat fenders pop up and have our boats contact the cement pier. Ugh! Also the security is lax. The access code is known by locals. Fishermen come down to the dock and leave the gates ajar. Vagrants come down and have been found on boats. Police don't respond. Erwin doesn't either. The convenience is nice. But stay alert to the risks.

The people at Erwins were Awesome. Just so helpful. Great location for downtown Chattanooga activities. I would highly recommend as a boater to check it out. The only draw back which is out of Erwins control, you better bring a lot of buoys to protect your boat. It is on the main channel of the river so it is NOT a NO WAKE ZONE and my boat got destroyed, TV, Kitchen, Pictures, looked like I had been vandalized. Lucky for me I did put out extra Buoys and saved my Hull.

The staff were so accommodating to us as we had a trailer with nowhere to park it. Mr. Gentry went out of his way to help us and actually ended up allowing us to leave both our boat and trailer on the grass on his property. You rarely find someone who treats the customer as a customer! Thank you Mr. Gentry for your kindness and great customer service!

We love the Bluff dock in Chattanooga. Great location for sightseeing and close to wonderful restaurants. The negative is the bridge traffic noise (but you get used to it) and there are some homeless people on the eastern walkway. We've had no trouble with either. The staff is very nice as well

by Debbie R. - Verified user on Aug 18, 2020
The folks here are great. What's important to me is a strong pumpout system and theirs is the best. Only 2 things that i wild like to see change. The security at the bluff docks is very low. People are climbing the gate and getting to the boats. I've been told that dock lines have been cut. Second, with a fuel dock, the area should be a slow or no wake zone so we have had damage due to a strong wake from a big boat that flew by Very close.

by Steve W. - Verified user on Jul 13, 2020
the man working there was VERY good and helpful We got there late in the day so we ended up on the out side of the dock which was pretty rough. Overall good experience

by Darryl W. - Verified user on Jun 30, 2020
Bluff Dock was excellent, easy to access, and and easy walk to our hotel. The secure access was very mush appreciated. One concern is the walk up from the dock to road access requires scaling a long flight of steps, with no apparent handicap ramp access, so if you are carrying a heavy load or have limited mobility this is not the dock for you.

by James S. - Verified user on Jun 22, 2020
Very busy waterfront. Wake board boats come right by and rock your boat badly. I had a fender burst! I saw one wake board bot almost kill 3 children. There should be a no wake zone between the bridges. Someone is gonna get injured!!!! Also notable lack of maintenance to the floating dock with broken cleats and areas of missing rub rails. I probably won’t return unless there is a no wake zone to prevent boat damage.

by David S. - Verified user on Oct 18, 2019
Hard to rate this marina. It would’ve been 5 star, primarily for location, if they provided adequate amenities. One can walk EVERYWHERE from this marina—to enterprise, Whole Foods, excellent restaurants, museums, awesome aquariums, river walk, imax theatre—list goes on and on. BUT the marina itself was marginal— one bathroom next to marina office with two stalls only for entire marina, a LONG (1/3 mile?) walk away for most boaters, no showers available, and it smelled dirty. The first few nights we were docked at their “aquarium dock”—fixed docks, cement piers every 45 feet or so, sandwiching each space to tie-up, exposed to public walkway, no security. We would’ve loved to stay longer had there been better facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful—not their fault.

by Celeste F. - Verified user on Oct 16, 2019
Long very low floating docks under noisy hyway bridge. Great location right downtown riverfront area. Ask for the Bluff dock and it has a security gate. Power, water and trash cans is all you get . Great town with free shuttle bus to Publix or Walmart .

The Bluff Dock is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Downtown Chattanooga. An easy walk to the Hunter Art Museum, the Aquarium, and many wonderful restaurants. Across the river there is even more! On a sea wall on the main channel with out a posted no wake zone. Very rough 2 days at slip. Very convenient location to downtown. No security with easy public access.

by Joe K. on Aug 25, 2019
The location trumps everything so any negatives would be offset by that. However there are some negatives. First I agree that TWRA should make a NO WAKE zone between the bridges, you can get hit so hard broadside that it dislodges the fender between the boat and dock. Also the far gate was wide open and there were people on the docks that should not be there. The gate at the far end does not have an automatic return so if you leave it open it stays open. And for a suggestion, the docks are often empty. Offer weekly and monthly rates at progressively deeper discounts as the boating season dwindles. I stayed for a month for 400.00 a few years ago in November. Great deal for me and at least some revenue as the dock was mostly empty all month.

Great location to down town

by Kemp H. - Verified user on Aug 11, 2019
Every was great with facilities but something has to be done about those wake board boats that curl up 3 foot waves and ruin the peaceful environment.

by Bill C. - Verified user on Aug 04, 2019
We like the Bluff dock. It is the most convenient to downtown, has the most pedestals and a security gate. Like all Chattanooga docks and marinas downtown, you are completely exposed to river traffic and wakes. But it is very worth it for a night or two. Jill does a great job.
Marina Response:
Thank you for your business, we love our Riverfront and glad you do as well!!

Gate code did not work called and called and called and called ......... could not get in. Just happened a HOMELESS man told me how to get in. you need an emergency #. gate was not working when we left
Marina Response:
We are so sorry this happened, unfortunately the office is closed on Sundays. But just for future trips if you leave a message it will come to our email and let us know what's going on. Apparently the battery was going out, the dockmaster took care of that and it is working now. Also, just for future reference there is another gate you can use on the upper end:) Thank you for staying with us, we liked you so much we just wanted to keep ya! PS Give me a call and let me in on how you got in so we can take care of that. See ya on the water!

by robert a. - Verified user on Jul 26, 2019
The river flows very fast here at the dock and there is no one to help with the lines. My only other issue is that there is no internet on the docks. The riverfront has internet but it isn’t strong enough to cover the docking area so you need to go up to the street level to get it. Jill at the marina office is very helpful and accommodating but can’t do anything about the river or internet.

by Chris L. - Verified user on Jul 16, 2019
Coordinating with the Erwin marina thru dockwa app was painless. Transit dock was clean an well maintained. One issue has to do with Erwin’s dockwa listing. It states a 10% discount on fuel for transit users. We went to Erwin’s Chickamauga marina for fuel and was told by dockhand there was no additional discounts at the pump. Might want to confirm or has listing changed.
Marina Response:
Glad the booking process was easy and that you were happy with your stay! The discount on fuel listed is for our fuel docks downtown when you stay with us, (each location kinda does it own thing) you just have to fuel during business hours, don't put your cc in, just call the office and let me know it's you and I'll give you the discount:) We'll try it on your next trip, hope to see ya soon! Thank you for your business!

The receptionist at Erwin was great; very courteous and helpful with our first DocWa reservation. THE BAD NEWS; there was no law enforcement on the water downtown - the small boat traffic is very heavy - numerous very discourteous boaters; we saw paddle boarders thrown off their boards and we nearly had cleats pulled out of our deck from the serious wakes.

A Wanderer’s guide to Erwin Marine Riverfront

Erwin Marine is the perfect place to dock your boat and explore all Chattanooga has to offer. Just steps away from sites like the Tennessee Aquarium and easy access to walking trails and fun spots to eat and drink, Erwins is a great home base to check out the sites of the River City.

Approach and Dockage

If you are heading upriver (east) you will pass the self-serve fuel dock and pump-out station first. It will be located on your starboard side next to a small row of covered slips in front of the marina office. The fuel dock is perpendicular to the river and will be a port side tie if you head in bow first.

Erwin’s operates four transient docks along the Tennessee River, all steps away from downtown Chattanooga. After leaving the fuel dock heading upriver (east), the first transient dock, the Olgiati dock, will be right before the P.R. Olgiati Bridge. This is where the marina office is located. Boats can tie up on either side of the T-dock (check with the dockmaster to confirm your spot). It also has access to restrooms. Half a mile up the river is Erwin’s Commercial Dock, where sometimes the marina will place you depending on need, however you will likely be sharing the dock with tourboats. Another quarter mile up the river you can tie up to the Aquarium Wall, which is a large concrete wall in front of the aquarium. Just a few steps farther up river is the last Erwin dock, the Bluff Floating dock, which is a floating dock with a gated entrance. On the Aquarium and Bluff docks, there is no protection from river traffic, which sometimes can be a bit rolly, but calms down at night. All docks will be on your starboard side if you are headed up river (east).

The current can be very strong in this part of the river, which can make docking challenging. The marina often does not have deckhands available to assist with docking, so be prepared to ask for help from neighboring boats or to dock on your own.

Marina Amenities

Bathrooms Mens and womens bathroom stalls are located at the Olgiati docks outside of the marina offices. They are open 24/7 and require a key code to enter. While they are available for all transient boaters, they are not close to the other docks. There are no shower or laundry facilities.

Pet Access The docks are located along the Tennessee Riverwalk, which is a biking and walking path along Chattanooga, so plenty of room to walk and take your pets to shore.

Fuel/Pump-Out Diesel/gas and pump out are available on the fuel dock in front of the marina office. They are self-serve so available 24/7

Proximity to Attractions by Land

We recommend spending at least a few days in Chattanooga to eat and explore all the city has to offer--here are some of our favorite spots.

Tennessee Aquarium (0.3 miles) There’s a reason this is one of the top-rated aquariums in the country. The aquarium is divided into two sections--one all about the sea and the other all about the river. Watching penguins dive into the water, sharks and humongous fish swim inches from your nose, stingrays glide underneath your fingers--it’s awe-inspiring no matter your age. The part we appreciated most was learning about the rivers and its wildlife--the water under your boat will never look the same again.

Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge (1 mile) About a quarter mile long, the Walnut Street bridge connects downtown Chattanooga to the north shore, and is one of the longest pedestrian-only bridges in the world. Walk, bike, or run to stretch your legs while also getting some great views of the city and the Tennessee River.

Tennessee Riverwalk (directly outside marina) Walk, bike, or run the 16 mile- Tennessee Riverwalk, which runs along the south side of Chattanooga from the Chickamauga Lock and Dam to near the Wheeland Foundry Trailhead. The path crosses attractions such as the Bluff View Arts District or Hunter Museum of Art as well as restaurants and breweries, making it a great way to get some exercise while exploring the city.

Classic Arcade Pinball Museum (0.6 miles) If looking for a fun indoor activity, spend an afternoon at Chattanooga’s Pinball Museum playing on their pinball and arcade machines dating back to the 1970s.

Lookout Mountain (Incline Railway Base 4 miles) When you cruise to Chattanooga, it’s hard not to miss the towering bluffs that line the Tennessee River. Believe it or not there's a whole town at the top and even a national park that memorializes events that took place in the area during the Civil War. There are a few ways to experience the mountain, but this is what we recommend. - Bike (or taxi) the 4 miles from Erwin’s (which is mostly on the Riverwalk) to the base of the Incline Railway. - Lock up your bikes and take a ride up the world’s steepest passenger railway to the top. - At the top, walk 5 minutes to Point Park and explore the grounds to take in some great views while learning about how Confederate and Union soldiers fought in the “The Battle Above the Clouds.” - Walk through Point Park and hike the Sunset Rocks trail for some beautiful views of the valley. - Head back along the trail to take the railway back down. If you decided to take a car up the mountain, you can also check out Ruby Falls or Rock City, both under a 10 minute drive from the top of the Incline Railway.
