Nestled along the scenic M-22 Heritage Route, Elmwood Marina is a fully-staffed public marina located on the tranquil West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay. Designated as a Pure Michigan Byway and proudly recognized by the Michigan Clean Marina Program, Elmwood offers the perfect blend of natural beauty, comfort, and convenience.

The marina features 152 seasonal slips, 32 seasonal mooring balls, and 21 transient slips (available through Dockwa), along with six deep-water launch ramps and ample parking. Known affectionately as the area's “quiet and peaceful marina,” Elmwood provides a serene boating experience just one mile from the vibrant heart of downtown Traverse City.

Explore by Foot, Bike, or Boat
Stroll or cycle to downtown on the newly renovated TART Trail, Michigan’s premier biking and walking route. The trail hugs the bay shoreline south from the marina entrance to downtown Traverse City less than a mile away. The trail continues north through the rolling hills of Leelanau County to Suttons Bay—a 15-mile stretch of pure Northern Michigan beauty.

Gateway to Northern Michigan Adventures
Elmwood Marina is the ideal launch point for exploring the Leelanau Peninsula’s world-class wineries or visiting the stunning Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, just 23 miles west on the shores of Lake Michigan.

A short 22-mile drive up the peninsula brings you to the historic fishing village of Fishtown in Leland, a 19th-century treasure filled with unique shops, restaurants, and attractions like Carlson’s Fishery. Don’t miss a stop at the Bluebird Restaurant or The Cove for their famous “Chubby Mary.”

Discover Power Island
Only a five-mile boat ride from the marina, Power Island is a 200-acre natural paradise with more than three miles of shoreline and five miles of hiking trails. This peaceful preserve is the perfect spot for a picnic, a hike, or a relaxing day in nature.

Attention Transient Boaters:

TRANSIENT SLIP RESERVATIONS

Maximum Length of Stay

• The maximum continuous stay is 14 days.
• After departing for 14 days, you may book another 14-day stay.
• You may also add your name to our short-term waitlist for an additional consecutive 14-day period. We will notify you if a slip becomes available before your departure date.

Deposits

• A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking.
• The remaining 50% balance will be charged automatically to the credit card on file on your scheduled day of arrival.

Other

• A Utilities Fee of $3.00 per night will be automatically added to each confirmed reservation.
• Current sold out dates: July 2 - 12, Aug 12 - 16. No more reservations will be waitlisted for those dates.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

• Check-in: After 1:00pm for all vessels
• Check-out: 11:00am on the day of departure
• Late check-outs: Require prior Harbormaster approval

Reservations are held until 5:00pm on the scheduled arrival date. If arriving after 5:00pm on the scheduled arrival date, you must contact the Harbormaster to notify the staff of late arrival. If you're late, and you fail to call, the reservation will be cancelled as a no-show, and you will be charged the remaining balance due on the reservation. Additionally, your slip will be re-rented and unavailable for your use. If you expect to arrive after office hours, please message us through Dockwa or call the Marina Office at (231) 946-5463 before arrival to receive your Captain’s Lounge access code. Otherwise, please stop by the Marina Office upon arrival.

CANCELLATION POLICY

• Fourteen (14) or more days before arrival (prior to 1:00pm):
  Full refund of deposit minus a $25 cancellation fee.
• 3-13 days before arrival (prior to 1:00pm):
  Fifty-percent (50%) of the deposit will be refunded.
• Less than three (3) days before arrival (after 1:00pm):
  No refund will be issued.

All approved refunds will be credited back to the card used at booking. Refund processing typically takes 3-7 business days depending on your card issuer.

VESSEL LENGTH REQUIREMENTS

Please ensure that you correctly enter your vessel's overall length (LOA) in the BOATS section of your Dockwa profile. Length Overall must include:

• bow pulpits
• swim platforms
• davits
• any other protruding equipment

If your vessel does not fit within the assigned slip, you will be denied slip accommodations and the sum of your slip fee will be forfeited. Please verify your accurate LOA before booking. Thank you!
