Friends of ours have owned a slip at Half Moon Bay Marina for years, so we finally stayed overnight to see what they loved so much. They were right. The marina is spotless, the docks are beautiful, and everything is incredibly well maintained. We loved being able to walk our dog for miles right from the marina, and it's just a quick walk into town where there are tons of great restaurants, bars, and places to grab a bite. We left saying we could definitely see ourselves owning a slip here someday.

Steve provided excellent suggestions on things to do, excellent communication on arrival and docking and a great recommendation for boat service work.

Great place to stay. Steve will work very hard to make it perfect! Wave attenuator is great to stop commercial traffic waves!

Great stop. Steve (dock master) was super helpful and we were able to get Bimini repaired after the 7/3 storm in the upper harbor. We kept having to extend our stay and Steve was very accommodating.

Spent several days at Half Moon Bay Marina during a stretch of windy weather on the Hudson and came away impressed! The docks were solid and stable, and the newer flotation seems to be doing its job. Even when conditions on the river got sporty, things stayed comfortable at the slip. What stood out most was how well the basin was protected. The Hudson was getting kicked up by some strong northwest and west winds, but once inside the marina the difference was noticeable. The wave attenuator really takes the edge off and made for some quiet nights aboard when other places on the river would have been rolling around. The location makes it easy to spend a few extra days. West Point, the Culinary Institute, Bear Mountain, and the surrounding Hudson Highlands are all worth exploring. A trip up to Perkins Memorial Tower is hard to beat on a clear day, and Croton Gorge Dam is another spot that's well worth the short drive. One of the nice surprises was how much there is to do within a relatively short distance of the marina. It's an easy place to settle in for a few days instead of just treating it as an overnight stop. Between the protection, the condition of the docks, and the location, this ended up being one of the more enjoyable stops made on the Hudson. It's definitely a place that will be worked into future cruising plans.
Marina Response:
So glad you enjoyed! It was such a pleasure meeting you all!

The marina is exceptionally well maintained, with what appear to be some of the newest and most substantial docks anywhere on the Hudson. The wide, full-length finger piers are incredibly solid and stable, and the slips are spacious & very easy to navigate. We stayed through a strong blow and were impressed by how calm and protected the marina remained. The seawall does an excellent job reducing wave action, and our boat barely moved even during rough conditions. The staff provided outstanding information before arrival, including local attractions, transportation options, and helpful recommendations. We enjoyed visits to West Point, Bear Mountain, the Culinary Institute of America, and Croton Gorge Dam, all within easy reach. The nearby Metro-North station also made a quick trip into New York City effortless. Excellent facilities, outstanding protection, and some of the most stable docks we've encountered anywhere on the Hudson River. Highly recommended—we'll definitely be back.— Daniel Mercer
Marina Response:
Thank you very Daniel. Pleasure having you here! So glad you enjoyed.

Went for one night, stayed 2 due to weather. An older marina but obviously under maintenance. New planks in the docks a d such. The harbor master was totally engaged with the boaters and very helpful. Facility was quiet and secure. Bath house was the weakest part. Men's shower worked well but had a drain problem. Overall, I felt safe and comfortable and would definitely stay again.

Stayed for three nights after leaving Hudson Point Marina in NJ. Was a nice respite after the craziness of NYC over July 4th. Steve helped to get us in a slip and was very accommodating at making sure we had all we needed. I am a hiker and he gave a great recommendation to see the Dam starting from the top and working our way down . Then hiked the Croton Aqueduct Trail from there back to Ossining then to the marina on the bike path. It was a 6 mile gradual downhill hike and was amazing. Thanks for the hospitality Steve, have a great rest of your summer. Round 4

As expected. Only one stall and one shower available
Marina Response:
Thank you for your feedback Zach- I'm so sorry we neglected to let you know that there are additional restrooms upstairs in the clubhouse. We appreciate you staying with us and hope to welcome you back again.

Having cruised across from England, I can honestly say Half Moon Bay Marina was one of the absolute highlights of our journey and a proper gem on the Hudson. The marina is spotlessly maintained, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and having an Enterprise Rent-A-Car right next door made it wonderfully easy to explore West Point, the Culinary Institute of America, and the historic village of Sleepy Hollow at our own pace. We also took the pleasant one-mile walk to the Metro-North station and were in New York City in no time at all, while the local taxis were plentiful, reliable, and remarkably inexpensive. If you're cruising the Hudson, don't sail past this one—Half Moon Bay Marina is first-class in every respect and an ideal base for discovering some of New York's finest attractions. Five stars without the slightest hesitation.

Steve was the nicest guy and was so accommodating and helpful. He had maps of the area and suggestions for food. The location was very pretty with great places to walk. If you have a dog this place is very pet friendly. It’s also very close to beautiful spots like Sleepy Hollow or the Croton Dam and Reservoir. We would definitely stay here again.
Marina Response:
Thank you so much Scott. Would love to see you again! Have a great summer!

Steve the dockmaster is extraordinary! He reached out before our arrival and sent me all the “must do” things. Made great restaurant recommendations and was eager to help in any capacity! He even came by our boat to check and see if we needed anything. Great location and convenient to so many things. We rented a car so that made getting to WP, Croton damn/gorge and Bear Mnt very easy. We did not use any of the marina facilities so I can’t speak for that but we did need a little maintenance and Steve was able to get someone to us the next day. The Coast Guard auxiliary was also on hand Saturday doing vessel checks so we got that completed as well. Would definitely come back here again.

I couldn’t say more about DocK Master Steve, and the Dock boy Alex. they were amazing and accommodating. I’ve been in touch with Steve over the winter because I like to plan thoroughly and he was very attentive to everything I needed and all my questions. I would come back to this Marina 100 times over.

After 40 years of bouncing around marinas up and down the East Coast, Half Moon Bay is one I’d actually go back to. The first thing that hits you is how well maintained the place is—newly rebuilt, very solid docks, and the slip widths and fairways are genuinely impressive. You don’t have to think twice about maneuvering here. The big thing is still the protection—the breakwater does its job, and even when the Hudson is howling, the basin stays pretty settled. Everything feels tight and well put together. There are also some really good restaurants within easy walking distance, which is a nice bonus when you don’t feel like cooking aboard. Location works well too. Easy walk to the Croton-Harmon Metro North station if you want to head into the city, and Enterprise Rent A Car is next door to the marina. Great for taking a couple days to explore West Point, Sleepy Hollow, and the Croton Gorge Dam, and the Culinary Institute. Good stop for Loopers—discounts on slips, and on Pedego e-bikes, and easy walking around if you’ve got a dog or just want off the boat for a bit. Overall it’s clean, quiet, and run like people actually know what a beautiful marina is supposed to be. Just a solid stop on the Hudson, and we’d do it again.

We couldn't have been more impressed with Half Moon Bay Marina. The marina is exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained, and the new floating docks are incredibly solid, stable, and first-class. The wave attenuation worked exactly as promised—we enjoyed a calm, comfortable stay even when there was plenty of boat traffic outside. It's an easy, enjoyable walk into town, and we loved having dinner at Piato for outstanding Greek food and Tavern on Croton Landing for great waterfront dining. We'll absolutely be back and highly recommend this marina to anyone cruising the Hudson.

Very expensive Marina stay. I would not return, felt taken advantage of with prices after a conversation with Steve we were told to book on Dockwa and an AGLCA discount would be adjusted to the booking. Steve advertised “significant Looper discounts” which are not “significant” the prices for the marina are extremely high. We had to ask for the discount with Steve knowing we were Loopers. Was quite disappointed in the facilities, only one shower men’s & women’s bathrooms. Not well kept and shared with next door gym. Men shower was full of mold, torn shower curtain, two sinks one mirror. Transients are not allowed in the Pool. Docks are old and worn, some boards are trip hazards. The wood stairs going up to the street had loose boards. With the “wave fence” still a very rough marina. Not a well kept marina. The car ride to CIA is very long and with dinner reservations was not a fun drive home. If going to CIA choose a northern marina closer to the CIA. Real disappointment, will not be returning.
Marina Response:
We're sorry your stay did not meet your expectations. The dock you stayed on was completely brand new, and 95 percent of the marina was rebuilt this spring. Nothing is even remotely worn out. We would like to clarify that we did provide a substantial AGLCA Looper discount on your stay. Since we were aware you were Loopers, the discount was applied as promised. We're sorry if there was any misunderstanding regarding the amount of the discount, as our intention is always to be transparent with our pricing. We would also like to note that our marina has recently completed a $1.2 million renovation and renewal project. Nearly every aspect of the property has been upgraded or replaced, so we respectfully disagree with the characterization of our docks and facilities as worn out. We continue to invest in maintaining the marina to a high standard and appreciate all guest feedback as we strive to improve. We wish you safe travels on the rest of your Looper journey.

What was supposed to be a one-night stop turned into a 3-day stay! Half Moon Bay Marina is well protected from the wind, the docks are in good condition, the bathrooms were always clean, and Steve was incredibly helpful. There is so much to see and do nearby that we extended our stay. Be sure to ask Steve for the digital welcome package—it contains many of local restaurant recommendations, attractions, and insider tips that made our stay even better. One of our favorite stops on the Hudson River. Highly recommended!

The good: Half Moon is conveniently located to so many things and there is a lot of great sightseeing in the area. Enterprise is about 1/2 mile from the marina and it is an easy walk on a sidewalk the entire way. There are several restaurants that are reasonably priced in the area also within a short walk. There was also a great charcuterie store that I wanted to check out but did not make it. The dock master, Steve, is very pleasant and tries to make things as hospitable as possible. There are no laundry facilities, but a laundromat is apparently a short Uber or drive away. We did not need services, so I can not fully speak to this. Apparently there is also a pick up and drop off service for laundry. The not so good: The docks are floating but need some serious reinforcement and updates. Many of the cleats are bolted to only one board that is weathered. In a Northwest to West wind it is very rough in the marina. There is a seawall/breakwater but it is not adequate in northwest winds. A squall came through one evening when we were there. There were three foot breaking waves over the docks and the docks looked like someone was shaking them. One boat broke off. Several dock boxes were damaged by anchors that 'crashed' into them in the storm. Our boat did not suffer any damage only because we stood outside fending off the dock the entire time. And before anyone asks, we were tied up quite securely with plenty of fenders. Unfortunately, because of this we decided to leave early. After much debate, we did finally receive a refund for part of our unused days. It did take me contacting Dockwa to get the refund processed. Bottom line: We would not stay here again if there was any chance of unfavorable winds. I would stay in Great Kills to do the New York side of things and then go to Rondout to do things like Westpoint, CIA, Bannerman, ect. June 30, 2026: It has come to my attention that the manager of the marina has responded below stating that the review is entirely false. A simple scroll through any reviews that are even slightly negative have the same reply: the original poster is not being truthful. I stand by the review and my personal experiences at the marina. Others have had different experiences which I respect. Reviews I write are for the benefit of the boating community, to use as they deem appropriate. I am saddened that management of the marina feels such a need to disparage others for their opinions.
Marina Response:
Unfortunately, your stay coincided with an extremely rare, once in a lifetime weather event, with wind gusts peaking at times at near 60 mph—conditions that impacted marinas all along the entire North-East Coast. We didn't notice the waves being that bad, nor boats breaking loose- but we feel awful you chose to move on. Just so people don't worry, our marina cleats have more steel hardware than any marina on the entire Hudson River. We have an 8 point thru bolt system and all of our larger docks are brand new. The renovation was well over 1.2 million dollars, and we're very proud of how the marina looks. Our sea wall is an award winning structure, as are our docks, which are nationally known for being indestructable. Half Moon Bay Marina is THE most sought-after storm shelter on the Hudson River. We are renowned for our exceptional protection from hurricanes, particularly during major coastal storms. Unlike virtually every other marina in the region, Half Moon Bay sustained zero damage during Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene, and other significant East Coast storms. Our naturally protected basin, combined with our wave-attenuated seawall, has made us a trusted refuge for boaters for decades. We're also sorry if there was any confusion regarding laundry service. We offer complimentary pickup and delivery, with most laundry returned within approximately 2 to 2½ hours. We encourage all guests to call us before arrival with any questions so we can ensure they get the most out of their stay. We can be reached at 914-271-5400.

We came with four boats from AYC in NJ. It was a great weekend. A minor snafu with power was very quickly remedied by Brian. A great time was had by all ! We will be back.

Steve was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Walking distance to Enterprise.

by Kiira B. on Jun 26, 2026
The location is beautiful and a perfect distance coming up from New York. The train station is right next door if you need to catch a train and I heard they have a convenient airport too. We rented a car from Enterprise which gives you a discount if you stay at the marina and was only a half mile walk. The docks are floating and there is quite a bit that is new. They have a pump out that is free and easy to get to. Steve was super helpful providing us suggestions of places to visit. We enjoyed biking on the trail right outside the marina.

Excellent Marina! Located next to a warm and friendly town with lots to do. The dock master understands boaters and is a wealth of local knowledge. The docks are well maintained, big fairways and newer electrical pedestals. The approach off the Hudson main channel is deep and the marina slips maintain over 6ft at low water. Well protected from winds with an effective breakwater. We stayed an extra day because of the hospitality and many things to do and see.

We had a very nice stay at HMBM! Dockmaster Steve will provide you with everything you will need to explore the area. Both rental car and train access are very close by. We have seen better bathrooms but I’m sure they will be improved
