There are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet. This is the motto of our beloved anchorage. They are true to this motto. We can’t say enough about how wonderful the people at MBY are to everyone. Three launches run during high season all the drivers are great. They are in the process of rebuilding their facilities after a devastating fire. They are a full service yard with many talented folks working there.

Great stay on mooring. Launch is excellent. MBY may want to update Dockwa and website that due to prior fire, they do not have available restrooms, showers and ship store. Thank you.

I have loved Mattapoisett Boatyard ever since I was a child so it is not surprising that I like it there now. The boatyard does good work (rebuilding now), the launch service is speedy and reliable, and the town is lovely. Be advised: Mattapoisett Harbor, especially the north shore by the boatyard is NOT a calm anchorage in anything from a SW to E wind. It isn't awful, but overnights can be a "bouncy" affair. That said, the ESE corner (there are moorings from another provider there) is the most protected part of the harbor. However, it is a long way from the launch dock and the launch is not free to those moorings. I have always known that a certain amount of "rock and roll" was part of the Mattapoisett experience. It dims but does not extinguish the appeal of the accommodations, the service, the town, and the easy entrance and exit to the harbor.

An excellent mooring field with quick access to Buzzards Bay; plenty of depth for our 8-foot (2.4 m) draft; lots of room between moorings; efficient launch service; ice at the launch dock; no showers or laundry at this time, but should be available once the new building is completed

Got a great mooring. Fairly close to town. Launches very receptive. Shipyard rebuilding but very well functioning wide open harbor. Great wind at 1pm reliably. Nice wheather finally

Perhaps the most hospitable group of folks I’ve ever encountered at a marina or boat yard. After a devastating fire that claimed nearly everything, they rose to the challenge and made everyone feel better and gave us hope.

Truly excellent and timely launch service. Staff is very accomodating. Protection from weather is good. Moorings are well-maintained. Parking is convenient. Easy to call and find out conditions when I'm not on the boat and the weather reports are threatening. Down one star because shore facilities are limited after the big fire in 2022. I don't blame them, there's a lot on their plate and they're moving as fast as they can. Already cleared the land and digging foundations for the new facilities. Next year I'll be back for another 3-week stay and I'm sure there'll be a lot of new and spanking clean rest rooms and showers and so forth. Looking forward to that. Best of luck to them. They work very hard.

Large harbor with space between boats for privacy. Launch service very accommodating and showed us everything we needed. Town dock has bathrooms open 24 hours and pump out station. Little town was charming with an Inn that had good and filling food. Ice cream shop as well. Will definitely make this a regular stop on our way in and out of Buzzards Bay.

Inexpensive and well protected. Good communication through dockwa app. Facilities are basic with outside shower. Launch service provided. Like everywhere else in New England launch will point out your mooring but otherwise stand by (i.e. not help you tie up). This seems to be market practice. Moorings looked very solid. Guest moorings are orange to port upon entering

Easy access great place for our 1st stop on the way to Virginia Stopped here on the way home to Gloucester. Great stop easy access moorings are well marked and well maintained

Full service boatyard in the heart of Buzzards Bay. We are family owned and operated since 1962. We service all makes and models of engines including Yanmar, Westerbeke, Volvo, Cummins, Caterpillar, Universal, Beta and Detroit. We also handle Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude, Nissan, Tohatsu outboards. Mattapoisett Harbor is centrally located on Buzzards Bay, approx. 10 miles across to Woods Hole (an easy beam reach), away from cape Cod so no traffic. We have seasonal mooring rentals with unlimited launch service as well as many guest moorings for an overnight stay or longer. We haul and store about 250 sail and power vessels for the off-season.
